So I got this new Seychelle water filter pitcher...
I tested my regular tap water and the ph is 8.0

I tested the water after being filtered by the Seychelle and the ph was 8.5

What does this tell us? I figured it would make the ph go down, not up...

I question the claims that they're better or signifigantly different from Brita or Pur pitchers.
I'd like to see Consumer Reports put them all thru tests.

Supposedly it filters out a large percentage of fluoride, something that most other filter/pitchers don't do...

You want the PH over 7 dude. Do some cancer research.
What you DON'T want is Chlorine & Flouride in your system, and all the other nasty stuff.
Brita claims 96.7% of the bad stuff is filtered out. Thats not very impressive. 99.1 - 99.9 for Seychelle depending on the filter you choose, and they share all the lab results from Abbott Labs, State of CA & a ton more.
I decided to study this because I have a seriously ill child and I want the purest environment possible.
Brita are garbage compared to Seychelle. Buy both and try yourself.
Take both filters out and compare. You can SEE thru the Brita!!!
Military guys use Seychelle as do many 3rd world countries.
Brita won't even publish their lab reports. I called them... and was put on eternal hold ... twice. They also like 'independent labs', like Lance Armstrong :)
Seychelle share them all (lab reports).
It's scary what is in our water if you take the time to do the research.
Plastic bottles are an environmental nightmare ( 1 Seychelle will replace 700 bottles). I travel with mine, fill it up after dealing with the TSA monkeys, and have perfect water - best there is. I pour some for people all the time. They then go and buy Seychelle.
The water from a Seychelle bottle/pitcher is amazing. Try it... You can 'blow' thru a Brita filter - try that too, and then think about what that means re. non-compressible water
Both are cheap. Just buy one of rach and prove it to yourself and you'll be amazed like I was. Sell the Brita on Craig's list to someone who does not care about carcinogens...

Consumer Reports is one of the few things people really should trust.
Not just because they are honest, but they do sometimes make a mistake and they are big enough to admit it.
In print.

Yes they do.
Even the cheapest Brita or Pur or whoever water filters remove chlorine and a whole laundry list of things.

And if you want to clean known bad water sources like ponds or mudholes or urine or whatever, there's katadyn and MSR and maybe a few others.
They're good cause they're very portable and strong.
I like the ones with pump handle.
Should be in everyone's bugout bag.

Again, read the details.
Brita removes the 'taste and odor' of chlorine... Their claim by 'independent labs' is 96.7%. They do not remove flouride. Seychelle does both.
Seychelle is 99.9%. Duh. They even sell straws so you can drink out of ponds,
Do your research and see whose product was provided to thousands in Haiti, Africa and all the other areas in desperate need of water. It wasn't Brita.
Maybe you work for Brita.
As I said, buy both and try them. You will not go back Brita again if you are serious. Brita is OWNED by CLOROX!!! Duh.

Read up on the New England medical studies re. flouride and cancer risks. Brita does little.

I'm telling you, I've dug deep into this for personal reasons, and Seychelle is the only one that takes out all the bad stuff. Their filter has the same surface area as a football field. There's a reason they just announced they remove radioactive particles from water as well (timely indeed).
