!!ALERT!! Barrow Alaska - The sun rose for 12 minutes today! (WASN'T SUPPOSE TO RISE TILL JAN 24!!!) Follows Greenland and Norway!

I have no link, but I was just listening to the local newscaster and he said that the sun rose for 12 minutes today over Barrow Alaska. It wasn't supposed to rise until January 24, 2011.

I believe what could be happening is that the actual position of the Earth in relationship to the Sun, meaning, the distance between the two, is slightly changing.

See, right now, the Earth is at Perihelion to the Sun. The Earth reached Perihelion, around January 3rd or 4th of 2011. This is the Earth's closest approach (in distance) to the Sun. Now, if there are extreme Northern Latitude countries that are seeing sunlight earlier-than-usual, this would tell me that the Earth is getting even closer, just a little bit, to the Sun, during the Perihelion Stage. Why? Something is very wrong with the orbit of the Earth around the Sun. Like a slingshot, as the Earth inches closer in distance to the Sun, than normal, the Earth is speeding up it's movement around the Sun, while at Perihelion, but also increasing it's angular momentum around the Sun, giving the 'sling shot effect' more power. In essence, at Aphelion, around July 3rd, 4th of 2011, the Earth will be at a greater distance from the Sun, and it will prove to be a COOLER-THAN-USUAL SUMMER!!! This is what I see happening.

What is causing the Sun to rise, earlier-than-usual in extreme Northern Latitude countries? Either the Earth and Sun are now closer together at Perihelion, in distance; The tilt angle of the Earth has changed to become lesser, smaller than 23.5 degrees, or there is occurring a drastic change in the upper atmosphere of the Earth to where it's becoming colder, alot colder, and it's developing a whole lot of ice crystals. These crystals could be reflecting sunlight back onto the Earth's surface, to make it APPEAR that sunlight is coming earlier-than-expected, when really, it's an upper atmosphere problem, that could be caused by the Earth going into a deep cold. This could be caused if the Earth is moving away from the Sun right now, at Perihelion, increasing the distance between the Sun and the Earth, because of some kind of angular momentum anamoly. It's true though, most Northern Hemispheric Countries are experiencing colder-than-usual temperatures during this winter of 2010-2011. Perhaps the NASA Guy, Mike, was right! If the Sun is losing mass, that means the Sun is also losing gravity, as mass and gravity are directly proportionate. If this be true, this is the scenario where the NASA Guy talks about increasingly deeper and longer winters, with shorter, much hotter summers. Either way, we're in deep trouble. Crops are going to fail and the weather is going to be whacked out. You know the rest of the story from here...

It'll be interesting to see what happens, and which of my above-stated scenarios is the case. Will have to wait and see.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I haven't been able to find it through a news search yet. This would be really interesting.

You really don't understand the implications here.
If this is true, Earth is closer to the sun, and the days will be shortened.
The season will be affected entirely:
You wouldn't expect an early Spring, but an Early Summer.
Summer & Winter, just 2 Seasons.
You would miss Spring & Fall.

With all the threads about this stuff I can't remember if I'm remembering info from this thread, other threads or combinations of threads, but so far this is what I've gathered.

There's a part of our "sheild" or the thing that surrounds the earth (ionosphere?) that is getting smaller, it's not as thick as it used to be. Thus, the light is reflecting around the curvature of the earth differently than it used to so we are seeing more sun (reflecting it's light) when normally it would be dark.

Would this thing that is surrounding the earth be causing other world wide changes (perhaps bird/fish deaths) if it wasn't as thick as it used to be?

Are we all going to be eventually microwaved?

Sorry about the wording, I'm obviously a novice about this stuff and just am getting the "gist" of it-without having absorbed the correct language as of yet.

From Central Minnesota my father has watched the sunsets from his kitchen window for years and notes time and date and location on horizon which is 1 1/4 miles away. On the horizon there is a lower spot or hollow he calls it, where the sun sets on January 10, this year it set on January 20,2011.
He welcomes any explanation of this change.

Sunrise and -set are about[ b]the horizon. As for Tromsø (Norway), the sun should not rise above the mountains until it's due (Jan. 21).
This year it happened 1 (2?) day too soon..!

Exact same thing for Alaska, of course they were early by a lot of days.
