Re: What is the truth behind Assembly of God churches?
I had never heard of the AOG/CIA connection, but when I was growing up, my best friend's dad was and AOG travelling minister. Her parents were divorced but she always told me that her dad had worked for the CIA before he was a preacher, and I remember her mom even telling a story or two about coming home and knowing people had been in her house. This was when I was about 9-11 years old this girl lived on my street.

That's v. interesting, illuminaughty! Do you remember the preacher's name?

Re: What is the truth behind Assembly of God churches?
In my opinion there have been some major problems since religion was made a profession.....for the leaders.....whereby they have to go to college and get a degree/license....like other professions. Then they charge a salary.....whereas Paul commanded Christians to follow his example and preach the gospel for free.

Satan is a master at half truths and has infiltrated the colleges that train these people with lots of doctrine which sounds nice.....but is erroneous.

The early Christians were referred to as the "first fruits" to Christ. First fruits are the best. What you are seeing now in the churches are the last fruits......and doctrine has been comprised in virtually every denomination.

It is best to give yourself to Christ and walk with Him 1:1. You can ask Him to lead you to a good group.....but there are not too many to find in America. I think the underground church in places like China are much closer to God.....with the Spirit moving in a much bigger way.

The early Christians went from house to house.....had their worship times there.....no time limitations/routines......shared things.....did not pressure people for money. Teaching was not a paid profession. There were no large mortgages/salaries to pay. Each member in the body shared with others the spiritual gifts that God may have given them.

God will one day separate the sheep from the wolves.....and there are wolves in nearly every church in the USA.

Re: What is the truth behind Assembly of God churches?
So I looked at my own local Assembly of God's churches website. I looked at the leadership team's website, where they give biographies. None of them stood out, until I read this one...

"Jeff Frost was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and grew up in Oxford, Michigan. Married to Betsy Frost for 11 years, he served in the United States Army Reserves as an Intelligence agent before pursuing full-time ministry. He also attended Master’s Commission in Detroit, Michigan for two years."
[link to www.rfa.cc]

I am finally digging into the thread made by WingedLion, and I believe most of it. I remembered this really rich family, dad owned his on building outfit, mom had every latest plastic surgery. And the daughter never worn the same outfit twice while I went to school with her. I remember running into them one day, and noticed on the back of their Lexus, the dad had a Freemason emblem. My mom thought it was for 32 degree, but I didn't think they made ones for their cars that said 32nd degree. But I know the church and school LOVED them. There was something off about them. I find out she is now married, living in NYC, married to stock broker from Merril Lynch, living the glamorous life.

As a child my parents went to AOG.

All I will say is what happens in that place is brainwashing, mind control and ritualistic abuse (look up ritual abuse, Jesus Camp, enough said).

I can however thank them for opening my eyes about the lies and deception of what Christianity is.
Anyone who tells you that their religion is better than yours, run away from them as fast as you can.

Oh wow! Good find.

Concerning the Masons, this girl I talked with yesterday went to a boarding school run by the Masons. She went there for 12 years and lived there. She said that a group of the students were being abused and molested by the housing "parents" in charge of the kids. Apparently, there was a big civil lawsuite which the kids won many years later. She tells of the emotional scars that they're all having to deal with now is just awful.

Re: What is the truth behind Assembly of God churches?
there are a few here in CT and they get lawyers and higher ranking officials into the churches. They collaborated here on how to expand property "for the will of god" and bought out ofver a 8 year period 3 city blocks pretty much for nothing. they know everything is tax free and they got "saved" surveyers to offer the town money pennies on the dollar. they knew it would attract revenue. Thats how most of those churches work. I'm sorry but I played the game for a while but the whole idea of those type of churches is to "force" the "spirit" on you over time. They even faked shit to make people believe....Trinity broadcasting network is a major influence of those churches also.its complete hipocracy what they do behind closed doors with their "clicks". hope that was useful info. I've been "Jesus Free" now 8 years and I'm never going back. I could tell you more sometime.- SENTINAL (offline)

I believe they are a big money making scam

When I lived near Danbury CT, I became friendly with some of the Brazilians who worked for us, and nearly all of them attended the various Assembly of God churches in the area

One day, I accepted their invitation to attend a service, and from the minute I walked in the door, I was acosted for money...everything is charged for

In addition, they prey on people's superstitions and fear, like gypsy scammers. I was told I had a familial curse on me, but that it could be removed by the Pastor and his assistant (accomplice) for $500, but that it would be removed faster if I paid more

When I looked shocked, the Pastor said: why should God do anything for you if you don't do anything for him?

On the back wall of one church, there was a large sign (at least 4' wide) saying PLEASE MAKE ALL CHECKS PAYABLE TO: and there was the name of a spanish woman who lived in Bronx, (I don't remember the name any more, but it was as if it were "Elena Martinez" at a PO Box in the Bronx, NY.

I remember wondering who was this Elena chick, and why was she receiving the checks for a church supposedly based in Danbury

I don't know whether this is like some weird multi-level marketing scheme, or other ponzi setup, but the minute someone starts threatening me with curses unless I hand over large amounts of money, I make for the hills

The sad part is that many of these immigrants felt a pressure to attend these so-called churches, and were told that they needed to make large donations in order to experience prosperity and success, and larger donations if they weren't doing well.

What a racket!

Re: What is the truth behind Assembly of God churches?
aogs are for the most part very good churches :-)

always check the statement of faith of whichever church you may attend _ aogs are quite orthodox, and safe

I attended one locally in the 90s into the 2000s. they sold the church building and moved to a school temporarily -- but getting the new church built ended up taking years. my wife and I moved across town -- she found another church (the one I go to with her now) and I quit going

5 years of no church = very bad for me. my wife remained steadfast and faithful during my slow painful backslide.

btw we go to church to look for Jesus - not to look at the people. as for the people we are there to love help and support and encourage them, not pick them apart ;-) every church is full of flawed people I'm one of them myself

Here is the full article on CIA in AOG churches from the local paper: [link to rockrivertimes.com]

The guy who writes is a lefty, but he is also a minister himself.

"This may have triggered the CIA encouraging their members to find religion. I’m not saying it’s a program set up by the government. But if I were to write a novel, I would use the premise of evangelical churches getting lots of support from the United States government’s right wing."

Maybe it's for controlled opposition to the left? I have no idea.

The speaking in tongues always confused me and made me uncomfortable. I was taught speaking in tongues was the apostles actually speaking in foreign languages to others about the word of God. So what they did was useless in my eyes.

I dont get what your rant is about. So you think Pastors should work for free? As far as that "redeye" website, it sure looks like a good place to me. They seem to help a lot of people and spread gods word at the time time.
I have no problem with Assembly of God Churches. Although I not a member of those churches, I do admire their strong faith. Just like any other Pentecostal type church, they take the Bible very seriously. They are simply HARD CORE CHRISTIANS. I think this country would be a better place with more Christians like that.

Re: What is the truth behind Assembly of God churches?
Man will know what true service is when he finds the god within him for only then will he know where his greatness lies and relinquish false needs which elevate him artificially above others. When he finds his god he will find true love and as he allows that love to unfold and blossom, its fragrance becomes a net that embraces all. When man can look at his brother and sister without a hint of mortal connection yet feel pricklings of love, then man will desire to serve his brother in whatever way he can without the demands of his ego pulling him in another direction.

The lesson beloveds is quite simple- service is the giving to all, without discrimination or distinction. Its reward lies in itself for when you serve your brother or sister you serve yourself, God and All and you trigger cosmic reciprocation as you are re-given that you may give again. When you give of yourself, in and with love, so too shall you receive.

After personally dealing with them and their school, I think there's lots of evil there. I don't consider them Christians, some of the people were good, honest people, but most of them? I didn't think so.

The RedEye website doesn't bother me, but the symbol and the agenda of it does. I know of the guy who runs it, went to high school with him, and after seeing how there's more CIA links than I thought, everything I see of AOG has changed drastically. He is a pastor son from a small town, and his symbol for his little ministry an eye just doesn't seem like a Christian symbol. Especially with the site being black and red. Maybe I am trying to find a conspiracy where there is none....

The more I find out what others think, it actually fits LOTS of missing puzzle pieces together. Maybe for others who haven't dealt with what I have personally won't see it as clearly as I do.

It really saddens me to see that people like this (the people who run these churches) turn people away from the Word of YAHUWAH.

I went to a Christian school which turned me away from the Word. Yet, he called me back. I don't need a church to read the Word and live by it though.

If you read the Word for yourself you will see a lot of things being taught contrary to the Truth of the Word.

99.9% of the Churches practice witch craft and celebrate pagan Holidays. On top of preaching false doctrine. Like do what ever you want and your still saved.

Which is nothing but the Anton Lavey's "Do what thou wilt" doctrine.

I assure you we have a Heavenly Father and a Messiah though. I pray many of you will seek this out for yourself. Not looking at how it can't be, but looking at the facts confirming it which most do not do. I didn't for the longest time. It's partly how we are conditioned because of Hypocrisy like this and Music, Media etc.

May YAHUWAH bless and guard you. Seek and you will find. No Church Necessary.

They should stand down from the ministry. But they also need to front up to God the congrgation and openly confess and apologise to everyone they have wronged. Its okay for people to make money, but if its underhanded then its wrong. God blesses those who deserve it. It can be taken away as fast too.

I found the Lord at an AOG church, and I don't regret for a minute my time there, because it led me to Him.

However, knowing what I know now, I would never attend one.

I don't think you're being paranoid here. It is definitely suspicious and worthy to be cautious. Thing is, though, it's not like you can go right up to the guy and get him to admit to anything nefarious, if that is in fact the case. You have to pray that all deceit will be exposed and sit back and wait for more damning evidence to come to light.

Re: What is the truth behind Assembly of God churches?
The Assembly of God is not perfect. If you ever find yourself in a perfect Church get out quick, you'll ruin it. It is no surprise to hear that there are hypocrites in Church. I am sorry that many people think that Pastors or their families are some sort of deity. They are humans just like the rest of us. We all have a sinful nature. Just because x-military or x-CIA become members or Church leaders does not make it corrupt. X-Senators and X-Presidents might, lol. If you are a believer, find a Church that preaches from the Bible, stick with it even if people do "people things". If the Church is out of line with the Bible, get out. If you turn A/G church in to the Regional or District Leadership for not sticking to scripture they will investigate. If they find your allegations to be true the Church will no longer be allowed to carry the A/G name. Sorry for those of you who have been hurt by Church people and Pastors, I recommend you go to them and tell them you have been hurt.

May you all be Blessed with the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

I just can't believe how infiltrated all the churches are. The Catholic church was went to, we stopped going when the priest gave my mom attitude about her voluteering. We later found out he was an alcoholic, and lots of people stopped attending the church , because he just is mean and rude.

I don't lose trust in God/Jesus, I lose trust in humans.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1237603

I totally agree. A pastor of mine was found to have done some bad things-I won't go into it, it was when I was young and I think it really made me not "trust" churches. I only trust in God because man will fail. I know I'm supposed to associate and fellowship with other christians but I can't bring myself to get involved in the "church scene". I do read my bible and I may even read it more than the people who do attend.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1223606

God understands exactly what happened and why your attitude is what it is. And He won't blame you for being a victim. By professing your faith here, you are fellowshipping in a way. Maybe in time you will regain your trust. Hold onto Him.
