Massive bird kill reported from Beijing

A massive wild bird kill is reported from a Beijing suburb.

Dozens of dead blackbirds, mallards and magpies have been found along the banks of the Xiaojing River, according to the Huang’jiu Ribao newspaper.

A staff member of a centre for sanitation and epidemiological control does not rule out that the birds have died of starvation and unfavourable weather conditions.

A massive bird kill for no obvious reason has been registered in Sweden, the United States, Italy and Canada since early this year
