Message Subject RE: Homosexuals can Change? - thoughts from the inside

You know, there's a lot of people who can't handle the idea that people can change.

I've been in the gay world for more than 12 years and the thing that gays and lesbians CAN'T STAND is the thought that their homosexuality JUST MIGHT be a choice.... and they can't stand it when someone rejects the culture and the idea that maybe there is another way that they could live.

I have seen many, many shots drank in honor of "fuck that bitch, going straight", etc. over the years.

I've seen women who have been with other women for years decide to go out with a man and be completely blacklisted in the community.

I've seen people practically excommunicated - including myself - for having libertarian or conservative political beliefs.

Faith is a topic you can't even talk about. Well actually you can as long as it's something liberal - Unitarianism, Buddhism, hell even Islam is a safe topic but NOT Christianity, Catholicism or Judaism.

I can't tell you the amount of hatred toward God and faith of most sorts. In some cases, family members and members of society who were complete assholes to someone they didn't know just because they were gay gave them a damned good reason and God's name is blasphemed because of those unloving people. There are also plenty of asshole men and women out there who really are bigoted pricks and I'm sure many of them will post on this thread.

But it is a lie to say that there isn't a deeper seated hatred in many towards God in the gay community for other reasons.

And now, it's not even safe to question or think for yourself in the gay community.

People are so confused... even straight people wanting to be good people are afraid to speak their own opinions on things. If you even QUESTION the idea that people are born gay and have no choice, you're a bigot and homophobic.

If you notice things about the gay lifestyle and/or community that aren't healthy (and there are plenty of examples) then you're "blaming the victims".

If you have identified as a gay or lesbian and question your orientation, then you are suffering from internalized homophobia.

If you don't act on gay whims, then you will be repressed and miserable and probably kill yourself.

If you have a problem with gays, then you must be gay.

If you've ever had a problem with relationships with the opposite sex, you must be gay.

If you've even once been curious about the same sex, then you must be gay.

And if you leave the lifestyle, well then, you were never gay to begin with.

It's the biggest crock of shit. I'm not gonna judge someone one way or another. There is a Judge but it's not me.

But I'm sick and tired of people who claim to be sons and daughters of God spewing hate towards someone whose sin is just more visible than their own...

And I'm equally sick and tired gays spewing hate towards someone who dares to question the party line and take responsibility for their lives, their actions and their decisions.
