At least I know my iphone 4 would work, along with my portable speakers and my laptop with a back up battery..

Well, even if there is no power, am sure there would be a way to make a current... look how cavemans / natives / mayans figured out to make fire.. I am sure I would figure out to built a current

Soon as it is daylight I would grab household family and walk to my food buisness warehouse and barricade them in. There is about 6 months supply of drinks and dried food in there. Not too worried as brits stick together when shtf and we have a great Government that would sort things out real quick.

Yes they could be a good pair of hands, but it really depends on the person. Are they worth the water?

And if they're not, you then have to defend your water, people will get desperate, but if you hold out long enough they'll become quite weak and in somewhat of a delirium.

So crude trapping is a must to know, and the will the survive and let others die.

And I know some of you are wondering.

I'm just looking at a general consensus of the people that are more likely to remain calm over the course.

There is a couple of things though, morals and fear.

Especially for you americans, Are you just going to shoot anyone that comes looking for help?

What are you going to do, Say if their car has broke down 500 meters up the road.

Would you leave your house to go help them and risk being robbed or your home taken over?

Or would you just leave them be?

And what about all those paniced people just coming round to see what's happened and to try and get some food etc.

You're in a city, how are you going to manage getting out of it when everyone else is going to do the same, etc.

hmm

sounds like you britts will be no more civilized than us animal Americans.

Never said we were going to be.

Please note "Especially for you americans, Are you just going to shoot anyone that comes looking for help?" was a simple reference to the guns.

drink some more coffee before it gets cold and get all my firearms locked and loaded and watch all the sheeple freak out.

If all power goes out and communications at the same time then it is probably due to a extremely large EMP hitting earth and that would also kill all automobiles .

water pumping stations would be shut down with no power so you better have some water stashed away.

If all the electrics were fried, if your generators didn't work.

All out, all gone.

And how would you react.

For one you won't have any idea how much area has lost power, and you don't know if and when it will come back up.

You're sitting there now in front of your computer and suddenly everything goes dark.

Satellites down, all comms down, radio down, all power including telephone lines down.

Everything we base our lives on today gone in 10 seconds.

You cannot contact anyone outside of your shouting distance and you have no information as to what's happened.

What would you do?

Realistically of course.
 Quoting: OTOC

I have been writing about this on another site.

If we get hit with an EMP (it could be nuclear or solar) that takes out the entire electrical grid for the country...we will instantly be back in time 200 years.

Will will be trying to live like our Great, Great Granfathers.

Chopping firewood..everyday..hauling water..everyday. Planting big gardens and watering and weeding ..everyday. Hunting or fishing...everyday.

If your place of income has no electricity for a year...what are you going to do for money?

What skills do you have to barter with that don't require electricity?

When's the last time you dug an outhouse?

WARNING:

If you are not prepared with food and water and water purification and tools for gardening and seeds to plant..

YOU'RE SCREWED

An EMP could happen any second..Our power grid is in shambles already with major upgrades way behind schedule.

If it happens tonight while you sleep...tomorrow you will wake up in the 1800s. How will you survive for a year or more. Read about an EMP taking out the grid. They say it could take YEARS to be up and running again.

CAN YOU LIVE A YEAR WITHOUT ELECTRICITY?

WHAT ABOUT HEAT?

WHAT ABOUT FOOD?

IGNORE THIS AND DIE. AND YOU WILL KILL YOUR FAMILY TOO.

This is just as bad and as real as pole shifting or Nibiru.

Bottom line is....

No power...

You have to get out of the citys...
 Quoting: Final..Frontier

To those who are wondering why.

It will be hell, so many many people fighting over so little.

They will become gangland, a very fast moving gangland where those who don't hold the water/food will be fighting for it and those that do won't last very long.
 Quoting: OTOC

Well, yeah, the city proper-but what about the suburbs? I think where I live I'd rather be in a subdivision in the suburbs than out in the country with nobody around-or where a bunch of redneck meth dealers are. That's the choice- a cabin in the sticks with a water source and a wood stove, but where where someone can attack, or a subdivision where at least you know your neighbors and they are looking out for you?

Re: What would you do if the power went out.
It's best to live and set yourself up to be as self-sufficient as possible - NOW. (actually yesterday!)

Don't wait for an EMP or anything else to take whats the 'norm' for you away...and then scramble to survive.

Live without dependency on the government/supermarkets/electricity now.

It's not easy becuase only when you try to break free of the dependence do you truly realise how deeeeeeply dependent you are on the 'system'.

I have....and am breaking free bit by bit...yet still i know it will be extremely challenging for me and i'm 100% off -grid. I'm still vulnerable in other ways.

Only with that kind of preparation you might stand a chance...whether an EMP or any scenario... could easily break our delicate society.

The scenario provided by the OP clearly stated that electronics were fried meaning an EMP event occurred therefore generating an electric current would be meaningless.

One thing is for sure we are going to rely on horses or whatever is ridable if we are going to travel to places until steam engines are reinvented
We will utilize farmland more extensively
Gas stations will be re utilized for fuel for fires for warmth while forests will be for hunting with anything but guns, those will be for defense only.
oil rigs must be plugged if possible and nuclear reacters must either have radioactive materials deeply buried or dumped in an extremely deep area of water far from shore
defences must include keeping concentration camp vehicles or whatever away from anti government areas and must also include protection from invasions by redirected national military, cannons and what ever explosives does not include electricity must be utilized or made.
A territory must be established or else NWO invasion might result.

Throw my BOB and guns and food in my car and pray it starts.

If not... fill every container in the house with water and start devising a cart to pull behind the motorcycle.

Then hightail it to my mother's nearly self-sufficient 20 acres about 20 miles away.

If we had to, start bicycling.

Last resort, barricade the doors and windows and pray.
