Montel Williams pushes for medical marijuana bill in Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Former talk show host Montel Williams urged lawmakers on Monday to legalize medical marijuana in Maryland, saying the drug is the only thing that alleviates neuropathic pain he has suffered for years because of multiple sclerosis.

The 54-year-old Baltimore native was flanked by lawmakers from both parties who support the legislation.

"Marijuana may not work for everyone, but what it has done for me is it's given me my life back," Williams said, his voice wavering as he tearfully spoke about his condition at a news conference.

I have chronic back pain and went to the Dotor on Friday to try to get some pain medicine. Some places treat you like a criminal for having pain, it is so so so sad. Just because I am actively pursuing different treatments to try to get better and I have seen a handful doctors the past 4 years doesn't mean I am in it for the pills. They don't take the pain away, just dulls it enough. Guess I could start snorting them...

Maybe if people stop getting arrested for using plant medicine we won't need so many opiate based medicine. Don't tell that to the people that makes the drugs though.
