Thank you for the reply. I have seen these rumors reported in a few places but I was surprised the Saudis would get involved. I do see what you are saying if Egypt and others also get involved. Never would have imagined Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt on the same side in a fight, even if it is mostly behind the scenes. I wonder if Iran and Syria realize just how many countries will be pooling their resources against them.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1242597

Dont forget, Iran has its hidden allys, Russia and/or China.

Its atm first world war style.
One goes to war with another and all defense pacts kick in. And voila we have WW3
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1035843

I dont pretend to know anymore than anyone on here but it would be surprising to me if either Russia or China got directly involved. I would be surprised if the US got directly involved also...at least I hope they dont. I do agree it could get out of hand very quickly though.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1242597

Defense pacts are defense pacts.
If lebanon declares war against israel , US , UK , France and CAnada are automatically in a state of war against lebanon.

First world war repeats itself.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1035843

Lebanon is too busy dealing with internal troubles to do that right now, and if things stabilize with March 14 still in power, then it will be outside forces wanting to take action against them, so would these pacts still apply, or would Israel need to conjure up some sort of false-flag as an excuse?

Re: Lebanon Update Thread - Tuesday 25 Jan - HEZBOLLAH CANDIDATE WINS - HEZBOLLAH TO FORM GOVT
Arab nations will not get involved. Its the catch 22 now. All Arab world is on the brink of revolutions. Involvements such as this will start the revolt in these nations and they don't want to start the fire.
Think about this for a moment. We are not talking about Arab governments, but we are talking about Arab people. Be it in Egypt, Saudi, Gulf nations, Afric, Lybia etc etc... All these people are looking up to Hezbollah. All these people have been feeling the stress under their government for years and they are looking for a way out. They are dissapointed with Western power for they have proven not to be reliable and backing the very dictatorship they are fedup with.
Hezbollah is just like the arrival of Mehdi as far as the Arab world is concerned. It is a way out. They are all ready to revolt and Tunisia was a clear sign and a warning ahead of what is about to happen.
It is a win win situation for the Arab people and a lose lose situation for Arab rulers, the West and Israel.
Even if Israel were to launch a massive war and kill 50% of population, it will not change what is about to take place.

I am not pro Arab or against western power. But i can see what is about to happen and nothing can stop it.

My advice to Western powers would be. To notice when your time has come and switch sides. THis way you can continue on friendly basis with all these nations once they have changed governments. If not then you will lose out big time and will have no place in their hearts when their power increses

If you want a doctorate class in shills and trolls, look on any of the threads about Nibiru or "The moon is in the wrong place/tilted". Those are equal parts hilarious and frustrating. This thread seems mostly sincere people, except for a certain canadian.

we have all worked really hard this week to keep it civil in here as this is too important a thread to be derailed as people here such as Muh and others have family and friends in the region.

By and large we have kept the trolls away. In fact, one or two trolls realised we were being sincere and calmed down.

I hope that it stays that way

Ordinarily, leaving the country at a time such as this may seem insane, but Turkey is a significant ally. This might be the move that will, if not actually ease tensions at least make the enemies of Hezbolla think twice, or it might be the match that sets it all off. Turkey is not a country to be trifled with.
