BRIEF AND TO THE POINT |

I was making dinner and thought of this thread. I was making peas so figured what the hey. I have a Hamilton Beach thermometer. It started boiling at about 195 degrees. Then I moved the thermometer over to the part the was boiling and it went up to about 203 degrees. I'd have to do it again, but it is weird to watch it happen. I am 680 feet elevation in Ohio.
Quoting: Mother MaryThe thermometer will have to touch the bottom of the pot, but to get a true reading of the boiling point, a body of water should be heated in an oven so as to be 100% accurate...and the thermometer must be completely submerged for the duration... Quoting: BRIEF AND TO THE POINTThank you! I also have digital thermometer made for the oven. Which one to use? Figure maybe tomorrow I could be a boiltard for the day just to see if anything happens. Fun experiment anyways. Quoting: Mother MaryBOTH...The answer to "which one to use" is always both or all of the above...
