I still have a lot of concerns about biologicals - it was I who said bio would trump nuclear, depending on circumstances.
I don't give the zombie story much credence, but the concern remains. I'm sure work is ongoing with prions, and other dangerous things such as influenza virus, smallpox, as well as diseases of which we've never even heard.

A lot of people seem to think that the US stopped research into biological weapons back when it appeared that we said we did, but I don't believe it for a minute. You can say the research is directed at prevention/cure, or you can admit that the research is for possible deployment of biological weapons, but it doesn't really matter - the truth is that few countries in the world are currently involved in research into the nastiest of the nasties, and the US is right up there with the best (or the worst, depending on your viewpoint).

Even a small release of a biological weapon could turn into a 'fear the reaper' scenario quicker than one could slam the barn door closed after the horse runs out. That's my primary concern, and I'm so far hearing nothing that would alleviate that concern.

Unless I'm mistaken, Dugway houses one of the most advanced bio labs in the country, along with Ft. Detrick in MD.

hi guys. you guys still figuring out whats going on. i was the orginal OP that got caught by RSOE then got kicked out after zooming in to that area. some weird shit has been happening to me since then. mailbox broken into mail stolen, weird phone numbers calling me. any ideas?

So, I've been following this thread and it's precursor since last night, and well I've had this feeling all night and day, something just isn't adding up you know?

Fuck. ok, so I have a friend who's a government contractor (the salt lake valley is a fucking hub of military and contract work) and he's, um, well, he's a specialist in what he lovingly calls 'experimental genetics' (his work for the gov/mil is in the field of disease and pandemic research). Not only that, but he is at the tippy top of his field. he occasionally disappears for weeks at a time and can't say why/where to/etc.

So he just fucking called me up on a burner he got from walmart (the information blackout on this is so much deeper than you can beleive). I'm certain that the OP isn't lying, but he (or siprnet I suppose) is also being fed a lie, that's how fucking deep this goes! So he calls me up and says, "shut the fuck up and listen to me, I don't have much tmie and I'm taking a beyond huge fucking risk here. Yesterday evening an engineered 'virus' was being transported out of dugway to a more remote location. The brass were getting antsy over the 'virus' they had created from the ground up." At this point I started to question what he was saying but he told me to shut up and kept going. "This 'virus' has been genetically engineered from the ground up, it has no natural analogue. It was an attempt to combine the contagiousness of a virus with the properties of prions [mad cow]."

At this point I'm just getting flabbergasted, I'd heard that they had made synthetic dna a few months back, but this was so far beyond that... "Essentially, they gave proteins synthetic genetic information which allow them to copy and spread, just like a virus. Being proteins they still have all of their physical properties. This agent doesn't make holes in the brain though. It short circuits and reconnects neural pathways."

my heart was (and still is) racing at this point and my body was shaking violently. He continued though, oblivious to my condition, "After more experiments with the added genetics we were able to target specific types of neural pathways. We never really developed the finesse to control behave in test animals, but we did radically alter it. We made them violent. We turned off their muscle inhibitors [if you didn't know, your muscles are waaaay more powerful than you think, your brain just has a governor on how much force they exert so that you don't hurt your tendons and ligaments]. The pieces were falling together in my mind. My fucking friend made a fucking zombie virus for the fucking military or the government, he didn't fucking say. But what he said next made my heart stop.

I was seeing the scenario, crazy violent man massacring his colleagues on the plane and then killing the pilot. This was only confirmed by my friend on the phone. I was relieved at this point though, because I figured the crash would destroy the virus/prions/whateverthefuck. Nope. Apparently when they went to contain the crash a bunch of the crew started coming down with symptoms. At this point some analyst panicked and posted a serious emergency on rsoe. At this point the top brass panicked and began a massive coverup the likes of which had never been seen. Total information blackout, even within the highest reaches of government/military. There's only a couple thousand people who know this at the moment according to my friend.

The point is, after crashing the agent went airborne and several crew members escaped quarantine. Soon as I push post (not even gonna proof read this) I'm getting in my car, getting on i80 east and heading for the mother fucking hills.

They are going to keep this blackout up until it's too late (the contagion has already fucking escaped quarantine). It's just a matter of time till it's in Salt lake. Incubation period is around 5 hours, it will have plenty of time to get on planes.

If "zombie guy" IS right and this thread is a distraction to head us off just in case the truth came out, then we definitely need to be paying close attention to anything out of the ordinary. At least for the next week or two until more information is known.

I just wish we had a reliable news source or government agency to give us the truth. We seem to have no choice but to sort through the threads on GLP and try to discern who is giving us facts or fiction. It stinks during times like this when so much is going on but what other choice do we have?

If zombie guy is right, I imagine something like this would become apparent very soon! Be prudent and do your best to protect your friends and family until we can rule this out! How, I don't know but what's the harm in being alert and trying for now to avoid crowds?
