I feel I have to say, these console game companies LOVE the hype. Nintendo, Sega, Sony, MS, Atari etc etc keep using the same old tactics and decade after decade and so many still fall for it.
What happens is every company will release their machines, then after about 2 years , when they know full well they are 2-3 years away from releasing something better they begin the HYPE. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1245528No they don't, the cycle is roughly 5 years, and they do NOT want to build hype more than 6-12months before release because that hurts sales of their current system + handheld You beat me to it.
