Quoting: m/walkyour right it would be better if he was more pessimistic and we all just gave up now right? No not pessimistic but realistic. Where will they come from? What new technologies? Where are the areas of demand? What would you advise h.s. and college students to major in? The numbers will continue to climb and the standard of living fall. This isn't rocket science. The offshoring of industries is decimating not only the US but other Western economies as well. The "projections" are that wages should go down about 50% before stability is reached. We have a long way to go. How the heck did we get ourselves to this level? |

OMG LOOK AT THEM ADD THEM ALL UP !!!!!!! This just shows that you can't count on other people to provide you with a job and a livelihood. Those who are unemployed should look into starting their own small businesses! There has never been a better time to be your own boss. This is still the land of opportunity -- you just have to get up off your ass and make it happen! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 744402 Full of it you are! Tried to start my own small business a few years ago, but it failed! Why? Big Business controls the marketplace! Couldn't buy inventory for the same price that larger businesses could! They got lower prices because they bought in bulk. Had to pay $200.00 for an item, but they only payed $150.00 for the same item because the sellers of the item offered to them for less if they bought in bulk. Not a level playing field at all! The original poster had the right idea, but you so correct with not a level playing field. People need to take their ideas to the next level. Forget quantity, make quality. If your product is the best available, then eventually people will pay the extra to buy from you. Am just dumbfounded at how people still think that the monopoly system of economics, created by "Big Business", is somehow going to change to allow the playing field to become "level"! Its just not going to happen! The ultimate goal of the game of monopoly is for one person, or a relatively small group of people, to manipulate and control all the people. This is being done, in part, by promoting the false idea that the people will become "empowered" to make change happen if they adopt new business practices and technologies created by those involved in Big Business! |

Good thinking but eventually it will not work anymore. Eventually, it appears that driving to get your stuff from Wally World, or any big box store, is going to be replaced with delivery services distributing stuff to the population. Amazon is the world's largest warehousing system, if my memory serves me right, and thats all they do. Everything is being driven toward buying and selling stuff online, and thats been happening at a faster and faster pace. However, there is a problem. Businesses that rely upon customers coming into their stores and shops are losing customers to these delivery type businesses. This, in turn, directly affects the businesses that sell stuff that enable the public to go to the box store businesses in the first place, which results in job destruction, not job creation! This is why auto sales and services have dropped to the levels they are at now, and are continuing to shrink. Increasingly, these businesses, for instance, are resorting to using technologies that do away with the need for jobs once done by people! This trend has been accelerating, and the number of unemployed in the US, and the rest of the world is steadily increasing, not decreasing. Eventually, a point of no return is realized, which in turn creates all sorts of economic and civil problems, and growing conflicts on a global scale that cannot be resolved no matter what humanity does to attempt to resolve them! Results to prove this are occurring in the US and the world right now! |

OMG LOOK AT THEM ADD THEM ALL UP !!!!!!! Some of these numbers seem low at first, but not if you realize that most of the liquid has been emptied out of the bottle, and in many cases these employees are the last few drops. There's not a lot of folk lefts to fire. I give the pols and the banksters credit, they continue to extend the fraud farther than I ever could have imagined. The power of lies...these lies could not work with real money. My farts are wet and smelly, not a good thing on a hot day when you are around people. |
