The Internet may end up being as disruptive and progressive as the printing press. You remember that that led to the Reformation, the Renaissance, technological advancement, and modern life - and, to the dismay of TPTB at the time, the end of slavery and serfdom throughout most of the world. Hear the pride and arrogance in his voice. He is better than you. He is entitled to rule. He knows things that you do not. This is hopeful. I agree. It seems an unavoidable end result that the playing field will be leveled in many ways between all social classes, given that secrecy is an integral part of maintaining power. I'm a retired catholic, but I do still appreciate the sheer import of some of the futuristic philosophy in the Bible, such as (paraphrasing) "In those days, all shall come into the light, and there is nothing that is kept secret that will not be made known to all." |
