Re: Does anyone fear god anymore?
Does anyone actually believe they will be judged when they die, and if the scale tips in the wrong direction it's either lights out or punishment?
 Quoting: Not really religious 1231298

every religion on earth except Christianity teaches this

Christianity = all have sinned and fallen short of the grace of God. all deserve death. Jesus died for us, and took our punishment away.

we have eternal life in Him the moment we believe He died for us, and rose from the grave to provide us the free gift of salvation

we can do nothing to deserve; earn, attain or even maintain salvation and eternal life. our most righteous works are but filthy rags to God. though our sins be as scarlet, they will be washed white as snow. only the Blood of Jesus Christ can render us blameless

when we believe in Him, and what He's already done for us (it is finished!) we reckon ourselves righteous in Him ;-) this is the hilariously good news of the gospel message

fearing God, to me, means respecting His sovereign authority. when things go bad and they do I can trust in Him casting my cares upon Him and rejoicing in Him. and I cannot lean unto my own understanding -- His thoughts are not my thoughts nor are His ways my ways.

besides all things work together for good for those who love God and are the called according to His purpose.

love peace and joy

Christianity believes the same thing. That's why you believe Jesus atoned for your sins. So up you do fear god, but the wrath is removed through the blood ritual of Jesus.

Re: Does anyone fear god anymore?
Christianity is a position not a performance

there are two positions -- saved and not saved. we are saved the moment we agree with God we are sinners, and accept the free gift of salvation provided by Jesus on the cross. our sins were all paid for 2000 years ago

this includes every sin -- killing simeone's mom, unforgiveness, lusting after women hating our brothers without cause etc

when we are honest with ourselves we know we do these things. every day if you're like me. Jesus said be ye perfect as He was perfect. this is unattainable outside of Him. we accept His free gift and we are rendered righteous holy sanctified perfect etc.

we are in Him as He is in the Father and He is in us -- we are quickened by His Holy Spirit. John 17

when we realize the Biblical truth of God's love for us we do perform to His pleasure but not out of compulsion. we perfrom with a grateful heart. we are already in the position of eternal life in Christ -- seated with Christ in the heavenlies -- but here on earth as people to be utilized as vessels for the Holy Spirit, Who provides gifts that we may utilize to produce spiritual fruit :-) we are to love others and humbly serve while we're here

no matter the repercussions. our reward is in heaven. we will find little among earthdwellers of compassion empathy understanding respect admiration appreciation etc etc etc. yet we can give those things to those around us as best we can, expecting nothing in return

the Holy Spirit helps

we are saved by how we believe -/ not how we behave. without faith it is impossible to please God. read Johns gospel I think it mentions believe 97 times I counted. we believe in Jesus we are saved.

Why would you fear a true god?

With all due respect, are you a bad person?

I know you're not, so why the fear?

the only sin where we get destroyed or die or burn or whatever happens is rejecting the free gift of salvation in Jesus Christ :-)

Yeah, if you read farther down or maybe in another book of the Bible
Paul talks about how grace shouldn't be an excuse to sin more so we can get "more grace".

the Word is a sharp two-edged sword op -- the more we use it to cut other people the more it cuts us back. we are not to judge or condemn but rather forgive ;-)

this includes our enemies. we have full assurance of faith and we boldly approach the throne of grace -- entering directly into the holy of holier through the rent veil of Christ's broken body. and He is our advocate against the accuser. our sins are paid for -- in full.

as Christians yes we are often chastened by the Lord. we become sorrowful and our sorrow leads to repentance. furthermore there is a pruning process separate from the chastisement wherein the Lord takes some things out of our life that aren't necessarily sinful, they are just in His way.

He wants to have a personal relationship with each one of us -- He is long-suffering toward us not wishing anyone to perish but for all of us to come to repentance. He wants us to love Him out of a willing and grateful heart, and love others as ourselves. faith, hope, and love -- the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13.

and love without condition. we partake of the elements of communion -- the bread reminds us of His broken body, the wine or juice of His shed Blood. and we are to examine ourselves as we do this to make sure we are in the faith :-)

the law and the prophets were until John. we are no longer bound by the law despite what so many posters on glp say. the letter kills -- the Spirit gives life. we are sealed with the Holy Spirit as a down payment and a GUARANTEE the moment we believe in Jesus and receive Him as our Savior. nothing can separate us from the love of Christ -- none shall snatch us out of His hand and the gates of hell shall not prevail against His church -- the universal body of believers. Jesus never leaves us nor forsakes us ;-)

if we want to try and keep one of the laws we are bound to keep all of them. further more is we break one we are guilty of them all. we cannot possibly of our own power behave or perform in a manner acceptable to God. we HAVE to have our sins taken away by the unspotted Passover Lamb Jesus Christ.

Yes I do. We WILL all be judged. You seem like a guy that can look at both sides (religious and not religious). Some people refuse to look at both sides and stick with stupid theories like evolution and big bang. I suggest you take a look at Kent Hovinds' seminars on Creation/Evolution/Big Bang/The Age of the Earth. It's very interesting. Click on the link in my signature and watch all 7 videos. I'm telling you, your life will change! It will! I can almost guarantee that.

Everybody may want to read this: [link to www.spiritlessons.com]

The Lord's Urgent Message

Narrator- “Currently, Angelica Zambrano is preaching God's message to all humanity. Right now, this documentary is being seen by many- thousands, millions of souls that are searching for the truth, like you have just done.”

Angelica (before an audience)-

The Lord told me at that moment,' Daughter, in those days the Holy Spirit will no longer be on Earth. In those days, He will no longer be on Earth.' And I began to see an enormous traffic; I began to see accidents and how people wanted to kill themselves. He told me, 'They shall seek death, but death shall flee from humanity. Death will no longer be during that time.'
Suddenly, I began to see people watching TV and magazines that read, 'Thousands and Thousands have Disappeared.' Many already knew that Christ had come for his holy people.

Those people that had been left behind, who had known the Word, went crying through the streets, wanting to kill themselves, but they could not do anything. The Lord closed the screen and told me, 'I will come for a holy people and I will come soon for my church.' That's what He told me in the Kingdom of Heaven. But two weeks ago the Lord said to me, 'Daughter, I take pleasure in what you are doing, that you are fulfilling what I have given you, but do not tell my people that I am coming soon.

Tell my people that I am coming right away. 'Again the Lord told me, 'Tell my people that I am coming right away and that I am coming for a holy people. Tell my people that only the holy ones, only the holy ones will see me!' That afflicted me and he added, 'And do not be silent: Keep on declaring what I have told you.'

He told me in the Kingdom of Heaven,' It's time to return to Earth. You must return and you must tell humanity what I have shown you.' And I answered, 'No, Lord. I don't want to go.' When I was there I didn't want to return to Earth. Then we started to walk; the angels gathered round and we began to descend these beautiful steps, white steps with flowers surrounding them. And I was crying all the way, pleading with Him, 'Lord, please, don't leave me here. Take me with you!' He responded, 'Daughter, the nations, your family are waiting for you.' I insisted, 'But Lord, I don't want to stay here; I want to go up to the Kingdom of Heaven.' He said, 'Daughter, you must enter that body. You must receive life, Daughter, so you can go and testify what you have seen. Many will not believe you; many will believe you, but I am your faithful witness. I am with you. I will never leave you.'

Close your eyes and place your right hand over your heart. Raise your left hand and if you feel like crying, cry; and tell the Lord what you feel in heart to tell Him. Repeat after me – all of those that are going to accept the Lord- repeat this prayer with me: 'Lord, I thank you for your love and your mercy. I thank you, Lord, for the word that has reached my heart today. In this hour, Father, I ask for your forgiveness. Forgive me. Wash me with your precious blood. Write my name in the Book of Life. Accept me as your child, Lord. In this hour I forgive anyone that I had not been able to forgive. I renounce to my lack of forgiveness. I renounce to all that has hindered your flow and I ask you to transform me and to fill me with your presence every day. Thank you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I see why the people that were alive when jesus was beleived so strongly, b/c they saw these miracles first hand and didnt just read it from some old book. Its easier to beleive when you know something supernatural is happening. especially if its happening to you. idk if i fear god if anything he fears letting us know the truth. thanks to adam and eve.

Good point OP! Salvation is progressive and not a "one time fix all" as some would teach. It is a progressive salvation that provides an "earnest of the Holy Spirit" which is a down payment for a future hope of receiving the fruition of that born again experience. Just as the parable of the sower teaches, that salvation occurs during a lifetime of a believer and not all who begin that journey, end up in the Kingdom of Heaven.

We should all remember to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. and salvation is from sin, not from Hell. We are saved from the desire to sin, the sin nature is what the blood of Jesus targets, not just the penalty of committing sin. Salvation from Hell comes about because we are saved from sin, or the sin nature.
