joe-schmo User ID: 1170300 Mexico 01/29/2011 01:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I like the "Cant we all just get along?" thing... but it is quite complex issue you are talking about. Not complicated. Apparently, our differences merge in a new emerging Chicano culture, which is interesting. Although not really accepted by the American culture in general as a part of their own, there is an amazing integration going on. So maybe what you talking about is that even though there is 30 or 40 million Mexicans in the US sharing all kinds of culture and resources, you don't feel they are integrated? Would be nice to see for BOTH sides to integrate each others cultures. BOTH sides resolve their MUTUAL problems of drugs, weapons, crime and general neighborly foreign policy. Would be nice to see less pompous Americans and ignorant Mexicans... but the scum of the earth is spread throughout like a layer of muck dissolved in all the oceans... So I think if you want to harmonize this relationship, you gotta clean the local muck on BOTH frekin sides. So first propose what you will do to help the situation and then you can be in a position to genuinely ask for an equal or higher response. Peace cabron |

Let's say, in a North American Union for our own benifit? I have no problem with hispanics (that includes Mexicans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Chileans ect..) Hell I live in Texas and the hispanic culture is a big part of my culture. I love the people, the food and the music. And I am of the Germans that settled Texas in the 1800's. But all that aside, you (and when I say you I mean hispanics) look at me, all you see is a green eyed "gringo" ! It doesn't matter that I can speak spanish, or ride a horse or can make Barbacoa or Pazole or that my family has been here for a hundred years. However most are not aware that illegals come from all across the globe. I'm of Mexican descent and I'm tired of all the violence that's going on over there. I live 30 minutes driving distance from there. I remember being able to go and shop there during the weekends when I was a child. Now, I won't even think about going. Ooops, I spoke up against the violence. Must mean I hate Mexicans. Not intended for you OP. :) So have I now become your enemy for telling you the TRUTH? Xytx User ID: 1116833 United States 01/29/2011 01:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think that most Americans, like me, don't actually hate Mexicans. I resent the fact that many Mexicans think they can continuously break our immigration laws by entering this country illegally, and after doing so, somehow "deserve" citizenship in the U.S. Those same Mexicans are the ones receiving welfare and other taxpayer funded assistance without paying taxes. Also, our economy is fairly weak right now, and every illegal (Mexican or otherwise) in this country is taking a job away from a U.S. citizen. The Mexican government supports and encourages this behavior as well. Ironically, the law-abiding Mexicans are probably stuck in Mexico for the most part. The law breakers are what Americans are exposed to on a daily basis, and after a few decades, the law breakers are what Americans now view as Mexican. Mexicans could go a long way to building a better relationship with the U.S. by simply applying to enter the country legally and following out laws while here. No one in the U.S. minds legal immigration, despite what the vile liberal media says on TV. Also, speak English while you're here. What names would you call me if I moved to Mexico, refused to speak Spanish, and forced everyone to speak English everywhere I went? I'll stop while I'm ahead. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 800931 United States 01/29/2011 01:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Personally, I love Mexico and not just the vacation spots. I've been to several cities in Central Mexico and still like it. I also think, for the most part, the people are good. Sure they are having severe problems right now with the drug war, but that isn't most Mexicans. At any rate, the US does not have the jobs or the room to support all the people of Mexico. As for a Union, I would fear that it would compromise the sovereignty of either one of the countries, and probably both. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1247052What can we do to improve our relationship? (Please, put aside the illegal alien thing) Can we live in a Union? Let's say, in a North American Union for our own benifit? It is a mistake to believe the media... that many Americans hate Mexicans... for they do not. The media is owned by a few corporations and they spew racist vomit all the time. those that own them do it for their own selffish reasons. There are a few Americans that do but they are very few and just have their own reasons. the majority of Americans do not think badly or have any reason to think badly of mexicans. Ever since the middle states started to unite, mexicans have always been part of the equation. They have been here as part of our human landscape. They have intermarried with many other races and are just more americans. Those who do not join america might be the ones under fire from the media, but not from the regular people. There does need to be something done about the status of mexicans in america. I do know people get upset when someone from any country refuses to talk the language of the country... like english in america... and there has been some type of push for americans to give in to having spanish as part of america. Well to do that we need to also add about 20 other languages as well, to be fair. There is also the question of paying taxes to enjoy driving the roads, and getting services that legal american get. These need to be addressed in order that a union occur. I would love to see it. I live in Texas which is about 40% meican, but most of them are legal and living here. Yet they all have relatives througout mexico and further down in to south american as well. I think it might be too early for such an agreement and if we wait about two years, then we will not have such a corrupt government, in America and in Mexico! when these large greedy and mean natured entities are gone, then we can join in the spirit of unity and create a fluid ecomony for us and our children. Be patient my neighbor! Paz! |
