Why do Americans hate Mexicans so much?

I think that most Americans, like me, don't actually hate Mexicans. I resent the fact that many Mexicans think they can continuously break our immigration laws by entering this country illegally, and after doing so, somehow "deserve" citizenship in the U.S. Those same Mexicans are the ones receiving welfare and other taxpayer funded assistance without paying taxes. Also, our economy is fairly weak right now, and every illegal (Mexican or otherwise) in this country is taking a job away from a U.S. citizen. The Mexican government supports and encourages this behavior as well.
Ironically, the law-abiding Mexicans are probably stuck in Mexico for the most part. The law breakers are what Americans are exposed to on a daily basis, and after a few decades, the law breakers are what Americans now view as Mexican.
Mexicans could go a long way to building a better relationship with the U.S. by simply applying to enter the country legally and following out laws while here. No one in the U.S. minds legal immigration, despite what the vile liberal media says on TV.
Also, speak English while you're here. What names would you call me if I moved to Mexico, refused to speak Spanish, and forced everyone to speak English everywhere I went?
I'll stop while I'm ahead.
