Yes,

This new thread is for insta-shills and/or debunkers who will reply within minutes of this post.

Shills or/and debunkers please:

Provide a link or reference to a book, picture or anything published before the year 2000 showing the moon phasing horizontally with the top 1/4 of it lopped off (BETWEEN DUSK and 10 pm LOCAL).
.

For the debunker in another GLP thread on this subject who used a wikipedia link to enlighten all of us tards about the Cheshire Moon (wet moon)and its location in both the summer and winter, where the winter location is 'lower on the horizon' than in the Summer:

a. If a horizontal phasing moon with the 'horns' pointing up is called a Cheshire Moon (like the horizontal smile of a cheshire cat), what is the description of the horizontal phasing of the moon with the top 1/4 lopped off?

b. Explain why the moon currently rises in the Northeast for those who live in the US at this time of the year. The wikipedia diagram that was linked to shows the moon's position lower in the winter than in the summer. Lower to the southern horizon in the Northern Hemisphere? Lower to what direction of the horizon for Northern Hemisphere viewers?

No, AC, a quarter of the moon hasn't literally been lopped off. See this very recent GLP thread for more info.

Tell me if you understand this picture I made. If you don't understand my point try turning your monitor or your head until it's the same way as each image and notice the moon looks different to each one. We live on a round object.

moonperspective

Explain to me how these three people would ever see the same moon orientation.

I am no shill, let us both share information though instead of you demanding we prove this side of the argument. Can you provide any scientific data to backup the moon is in a different location? Modern astronomy is one of the oldest amateur scientific hobbies on the Earth.

Bottom line is:

Modern astronomy is one of the oldest amateur scientific hobbies on the Earth.

If any known viewable celestial object was off, by even a fraction of a degree, there would be so many people that would instantly know about it there would be no way anyone could ever put a lid on it.

The burden of proof clearly lies with you. There are countless astronomy forums, chances are you have several astronomy clubs within miles of you. Occam's razor slices this one pretty easily:

1. Every single amateur astronomer worldwide is in on the cover up for the moon being changed.
2. You're wrong.

The optimist in me wants to think that so many people are howling at the moon because mankind is collectively becoming more aware and conscious of things like this. But then I read that people have been posting this every year for awhile :(

Here OP, I'll answer your question in a way that YOU yourself can verify, with your own two eyes.

You won't have to rely on those evil scientists and their books filled with math and big words.

When the moon is waxing or waning, at moon rise, go out and look at the moon. Note where the darkness is. Okay? You can handle that, right? I hope so.

Ok, part two, when the moon is at its zenith ('noon' for the moon, when it's in the middle of the horizon) go outside and look at the moon again. Again, note where the darkness is. You still following me, or do I need to simplify it even more?

Last part. Just before the moon sets, go outside for a third time and note where the darkness is.

Now I know, I'm asking a lot of you. 3 observations, that's a tall order. But I think you can handle it.

I won't even tell you the results, I'll let you figure it out on your own, since scientists can't be trusted.

GOOD LUCK OP!

Much better then what you wanted. From 1896, Feb 2.

The Moon with about a quarter of the top chopped off. Every other year, go to a time a few days before 3rd quarter, at about the same time.
My program was offline; keep me honest with the online version. [link to www.skyviewcafe.com]

EDIT: Note: latitude makes a difference, if you're trying to check.
