GNC/any health food store and chug about a half to a cup of it. Pain will go away over night. Any time you start feeling that pain in your foot...chug the black Cherry Juice. I use it and it works!!!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1250859 This, and I find that two Aleve can get you through that first day. Aleve for gout are you fucking serious? You have never had an acute attack, if you did, you would know that vicodin extra Strength is the only pain relief for that symptom. 4 Aleve will stop the inflammation so that it will start healing. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 41402655 United Kingdom 06/09/2013 11:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i am on a high protein calorie deficit diet combined with exercise, and i'm losing weight well, but have hit a snag this past couple of days my left big toe has flared up into what I now know is a gout attack, and I've worked out it's because of the extra protein in the form of meat and eggs i've been taking in as a part of this regime i'm on the attack has subsided now, but I don't want to cut down on my protein because i'll start losing lean body mass. it's just fat i want to lose, so what foods do you eat to get your proteins if you do the same as me, and suffer from gout attacks? I'm a courier btw, so finger foods are what i'm after, so I can eat on the move. What are the best foods in that case? tia for any advice |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1518033 Japan 06/09/2013 12:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, ignore most of the advice you are getting here and only listen to the people who have gout. Gout is genetic and becomes worse as you age past your 30s. Uric Acid crystals collect in your feet where you have had previous injuries. This means it concentrates in the first and second joints of your big toes. Gout attacks happen making walking painful and some people can't even walk. What can trigger Gout attacks? It is different for different people because our Gout conditions are genetically different. For me, Drinking even 1 beer. Eating more than two shrimp. Extreme changes in weather, either it becomes suddenly very cold or suddenly very hot. So what I do, when the pain starts and I start to see redness and swelling in my toes, I start to pop Ibuprofen. About 3 a day. Then I start to eat a small basket of any berries. The darker the better. Strawberries, blueberries, cherries. I try to eat a small basket of these berries once a week when they are in season. I have not tried black cherry juice, but if it contains real black cherries, it probably will work. Expect the cherries to help reduce your Gout attack every day. It should completely cure you in about 1 week to 2 weeks. The Ibuprofen will help you to walk. Be very careful about the medication. Doctors once knew how to treat Gout very well with controlled doses of medicine. Now they don't know anything. Doctors today don't even really know what it is. I took one pill from a co-worker with Gout and it did get rid of my Gout in only one day. But I also had a terrible reaction of some kind and had to go to the ER where the doctor thought I was on drugs. If you have Gout in your hands, that is a very bad sign. I recommend seeing a doctor that specializes in Gout and getting on medication. This treatment also helps people with other forms of arthritis. |

Explain to the boss about your condition if you have a dress code. In summary, stop drinking beer (at least during attacks), pop Ibuprofen as directed, eat berries every day during your attacks, and once a week in season. Wear loose shoes. Use a cane. |

Couldnt put a sheet over my big toe, it was so sensitive. Fresh cherries are the best solution. Along with small amounts of sodium bicarbonate and freshly squeezed lemonade. Dont take too much sodium bicarb as it will cause you to shit yourself. I had been drinking scotch and eating soppressata, prosciutto and cheese for a week.Alcohol mixed with preserved meats is a no go for me now. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14191002 United States 06/27/2013 09:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Didn't read the thread but I just saw this on the front page of Earth Clinic this morning Quoting: Vision Thing [link to www.earthclinic.com] ALFALFA TABLETS FOR GOUT Ed from Irving Township, Minnesota writes: "I suffered with gout for 9 years. 12 years ago I began taking cranberry capsules. It helped, however, the gout would return, just not as often or severe. I researced more on the internet and learned that Alfalfa tablets cause the uric acid to be removed through the other end and I have not had a gout attack for 11 1/2 years. I drink, eat red meats, seafood, spinach, venison and other foods not recommended. I take cranberry, garlic, alfalfa, milk thistle a multivitamin once a day in the morning for maintenance. I have been able to resume use of my treadmill and I lost 50 lbs, and no more worries about walking, yard work or hunting. I have told many others about this system and every single person said it worked for them. Your doctor won't tell you, there is no profit in this for them. So much for the hippocratic oath." I have battled gout for over a year, it comes and goes, seems like a sprained toe, pisses me off to no end. I like the cherries idea and the alfalfa. I choose to do the alfalfa remedy, 3 tabs of 600 mg I believe everyday, I did not change my diet at all-I go to Mickey D's occasionally, once every couple of weeks, have my mountain dew, eat fish, all kinds of meat, pork, chicken, burgers, and of course beer and wine...no changes...ever since i have taken the alfalfa, my gout has gone away. Now in the past it has gone away as well w/o the alfalfa, but always comes back. I have been taking the alfalfa for a few weeks with no return of the gout, we will see, in a fe months to see if it comes back. I also excercise 3X a week, plus golf(walk 9 holes at least 4X a week and waterski 4 X aweek. Hopefully the alfalfa will keep it from coming back, I will update again in a few months....thanks for the suggestion of alfalfa!! |

Gout will disappear within 2 -5 days. In my case red meat and gluten will cause bouts of gout. A book called wheat belly written by a cardiologist taught me about the gluten and gout connection. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 30423724 Australia 06/27/2013 09:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | YEOW! I feel your pain. Get OUT you bastard. My last attack was in both feet, yes that is right and left. Could not walk, only cry. Phoned the quack, he wanted me to come in..I hung up on the prick. Looked online for a remedy that I had in the house..something..ANYTHING to remove the pain. Lemons, bicarb soda, water...I had these. Within one hour the pain was gone. Careful not to take too much as alkalosis is fatal. Half teaspoon, juice of 1 lemon in a tall glass of water. BTW, you think gout is painful, don't go the whole hog and get uric acid kidney stones. The pain from these things is excruciating. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 37004650 United States 06/27/2013 11:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i thought gout was a somewhat fashionable ailment of the upper class. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1223552Yes, the old wives tale of too much fatty food and drink It's genetic...my tea total'in garden growing uncle gets it bad...and so did I, until I started taking Alupurinol... Very old and well tested med....I knew an old doctor that told he had been taking the stuff for 50+ years with no liver problems, etc I actually only take the stuff now and again with no problems...I think it reversed/changed my uric acid production over time..... It's nasty stuff and all of the cherries and berries and diets never made a difference with mine...tried them to no avail yep allopurinol & no more beer fixed it for me |
