I'm in Connecticut and there's just no place left to put it all. When you make a turn you can't see if cars are coming, because all the corners have 5-7 feet of snow piled up. The weather forcasters are saying we're going to get another 12-18 inches here. Thank God we have beer!

All weekend, the city has been loading the snow into dump trucks to dump into the river to make way for this next round. Sadly, we are almost out of snow-removal budget and have 2 months to go.

Bring on spring!!

OP - local news is now calling for 1" of ice on top of 4-6" of show.

This is going to be one UGLY storm.

Where are you? They've said everything from 8-10 to 12-18 here in Kansas city. The storm did just move a little further south than predicted. But it's the ice and wind that concern me.

FEMA issued a blizzard warning - first time in my lifetime for this area. We're under a state of emergency and the National Guard has been deployed - of course many other states are in the same position.

I'm bracing right now near Cleveland.... could see 12 - 18 inches of snow when all is said and done; and then a layer of freezing rain on top of that on wednesday evening... Should be nasty.... I'll keep you's posted... All quiet here so far though....

Philly area. Sounds like you guys are in for a rough haul.

We handle the snow just fine here, but ice is another animal. Between road conditions, above ground power lines and potential roof collapses, ice is a HUGE problem here.

No National Guard deployment that I am aware of, but much of this area could be shut down for the next 2 days - which is very unusual. We will know more in the morning.

Stay safe and thanks for the discussion!

I asked KM to explain the basics of some CLIMATOLOGY precepts. Rather than acting like a scholar, he attacked!! Seems to me, I like discussing the circum-polar vortex and the effect of ozone at the poles. Or the effects of limestone quarries and the relationship to acid rain down wind of the predominate wind patterns. Or the benefits of La Nina to El Nino. Rather than having a discussion, he prefers to state how NOAA copies HIM. I am sure he does not know what NOAA is nor the NSPC means....Oh, he knows everything...as an un-degreed PROFESSIONAL. Nut he DOES live on RancHo Cucamongo or some other foothill wannabe white class community.

They are calling for it to go up to 40 Wednesday afternoon once/after this passes and then back down into the 20s overnight and a high of 26 on Thursday - setting the stage for a quick melt + refreezing, making matters even worse for the Thursday commutes.

Yeah, whatever klingon. Explain the hydrologic cycle. . Why are Chinook winds warm? Where do the Siccarro (sp) happen and the similarities to the devil winds? What happens when the barometric gradient contours are really close v. having a much larger gradient? What is a gradient? Why are you claiming to be something you are not?
