31 January 2011: U.S. Intelligence officials are warning Wall Street banks and investment firms to be on the lookout for explosive packages. According to intelligence sources contacted by this agency, the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) began last week advising the security heads of financial firms to be aware that intelligence indicates that plans are in the works to bomb Wall Street targets. Such targets are said to include but are not limited to Goldman Sachs, Citibank, JPMorgan Chase and Barclays.
U.S. intelligence officials have also warned the security offices of the various firms to be aware of possible packages and envelopes containing – or appearing to contain – anthrax. According to the same sources, information from sources in Yemen, al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), and references contained in the most recent edition of the English language Inspire magazine have resulted in the issuance of this threat advisory.
The Northeast Intelligence Network is continuing to monitor and investigate this matter. Updates will be posted as additional information is developed from sources within NYPD and JTTF.
