I got one of those. A friend of mine came out of the blue 5-6 years ago and said "i dunno, but I got this thing behind my ear that makes me wonder..."

We both had noticed, if you put your finger on it, press, and move it around in circles, you can hear little filaments ripping off from it. Sounds like little clicks. Feels, sounds like it had threads leading away from it that snap when stretched. Try it.
