IMO, the tribal governments and councils are the 'wild card' factor in the Southwest and West, generally.
Which way will they swing? Many have no love at all for the federal government for obvious reasons, but their dependency on federal funds may possibly trump any aspirations they have for greater autonomy. Money is a very powerful 'tie that binds'.

Yet, with the economy continuing to tank and the federal government esentially bankrupt, some may refocus locally which would put them, generally, into the 'secession- friendly' camp. The State governments are in no better shape, either, so things aren't cut and dry from the financial angle of 'who sides with whom'.

I highly doubt secession will be billed as such, though. It will likely be called an attempt to save the nation from federal tyranny. In many ways it is, but who that message resonates with depends, greatly, on what one sees unfolding, one's loyalities, and who one is.

They will survive, life will get a LOT cheaper in fact.

No, Nikki, this is the most constitutional law they could pass. The Federal Government has vastly over-stepped it's power granted by the Constitution. The Supreme Frauds (errr, "Court") created B.S. reasons out of thin air calling just one, the "Commerce Clause." If anything affects interstate commerce all of a sudden Congress can pass a law to regulate it.

Remember the 10th Amendment says: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

But I agree with you -- if any state wants out they have to get completely out. Most don't have any idea what that really means.

Go ahead! One of the biggest nuclear plants in the world exist just outside of Pheonix. They supply power to three states and the city of Los Angeles. Cut off AZ, and they'll cut off everybody else. You're really not that inteligent if you think that AZ is not contributing to the rest of the U.S.

Watch them cut off their highway access to transportation lines that go from state to state.
