Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1239270 United States 02/03/2011 06:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes but only because my neighbours are retarded fucking mongoloids. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1248319My sympathies, luckily I don't have neighbors so I don't have to deal with their audio intrusions. I prefer silence as well...I cant sleep if there is even small noises... Quoting: WhitehawkI find myself the same way. Even the sound of a "nose whistle" while I'm trying to drift off gets on my nerves. I like to sleep with a fan on because I hear things sometimes at night that I can't contribute to anything reasonable. Having a fan helps for something to blame it on. |

I do too, I think it's because I have Assburgers. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 424609This is what I was getting at. I guess I could have Googled it to begin with... but I was thinking I may have a slight touch of Aspergers. from Google: Have heightened sensitivity and become overstimulated by loud noises, lights, or strong tastes or textures. For more information about these symptoms, see sensory integration dysfunction. I don't have any of those other things, just the noises. [link to www.webmd.com] The symptoms are interesting. I do have some of them. Definitely a lack of empathy, haha. |

It is a hypersensitivity to certain types of sounds. The nerves in the inner ear are in pain because of frequencies heard. There is a therapy to relieve this developed by a Swiss physician, Dr. Guy Barraud. This is explained in the book he wrote for layman called Hearing Is Behavior. And no, you are not going crazy. |

That and earplugs. Fortunately my apartment is pretty quiet for all but maybe 3 hours in the evening and that's just in one room. |

I just looked it up... it says that musicians are sometimes affected by this, possibly because of damage from loud music. I listen to earphones with the music louder than I probably should (because it sounds good to me). Maybe I have permanently damaged my ears. Meh. Very interesting thank you. |

I also have rather acute vertigo |

It annoyed the fuck out of me and hampered my shopping experience. Not that it matters. I'd say being annoyed by that is common. Quoting: Anonycow Mousard 1239270But otherwise I find that random noises, not even necessarily loud, drive me fucking insane. Anyone else? Do I have mental problems? Am I retarded? Thanks for any responses, and please be quiet. If you spend most of your time in a peaceful environment you aren't conditioned for this. If you had people annoying you constantly this wouldn't touch you. |

Thanks for any responses, and please be quiet. I can't stand crackling plastic bags near me (crisp packets etc) I also can't stand noisy eaters or folks talking with a mouthful of food. Never bothered me before I had a major operation,so I wonder if that had some kind of effect on me. Have you had any major ops ...op? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1222416 United States 02/03/2011 08:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The music, always the music. I wear ear plugs while shopping because it can be overwhelming. Some marketer found that people shop more while music is on. I find myself indulging everybody else's musical taste as result. I am a professional musician and music is very powerful. Usually won't shop without ear plugs now. The world is simply too loud. |
