I didn't get the job because I am caucasian/white. Your thoughts.

Geez I have tons of experience what also include management exp as well as a degree with honors from a VERY good university and owning my own company. In a market like this and esp. where I live, it really doesn't matter unfortunately. Employers are not fighint over anyone right now, more like the other way around or did you just stick your head out of a whole after several years.

One thing I have noticed just as a consumer in the public sector, the people that have jobs - a majority don't do a very good job, i.e. fast food restaurants and the like. I applied to Wendy's and was never even called so what does that tell ya. Many who have job security, one specific individual I worked with at the job in question, spent hours a day getting her online degree during company time. I don't have patience for this type of behavior because I know my work ethic is impeccable in comparison.

Another irony is the college I attended instilled at its very core in its curriculum, students, faculty and graduates - diversity and multiculturalism.

to add another interesting phrase I often heard as I dodged prostitutes, crack dealers, gansters and bullets while living in Oakland, CA that seems to fit here, "Homey don't play that..." perhaps I should have used that phrase in my interview with HR.

Unfortunately, not everyone can be a Aeronautical engineer, and if they could there would be abundance of them which would lead to unemployment. Look at the nursing and teaching fields, its not as easy anymore to get work like it was ten years ago. I know, I have a buddy in nursing. Just saying that when they destroyed manufacturing in the us, it was the start of the downfall of many other businesses. You can not function as a productive country with most jobs paying 7.40/hr.

I have been without work for over a year 1/2 due to this very issue. I have been on several interviews where in the job description it doesn't say or ask if you are bilingual (aka speaka the Espanol)? so I apply. I get the interview, but am always asked that famous question, "do you speak any other languages"? when I say no, the interview is then-over. So for the past year 1/2 I am still desperately looking. Oh, and for those that say go and get a "temp" job, we'll in CA there are none of those either. I have looked, called, networked, etc. with no luck. I have other "white" friends who are going through the same BS, so yeah, it makes a person a bit bitter, frustrated, sad and hopeless. Until you are in this same situation, don't put someone else down for seeing the world as "not too friendly to white people anymore" that's all I'm saying...

I had no problem getting a job after being laid off and I'm white and older. Of course there is nothing I haven't done except maybe be president.lol Having something to fall back on (trade, good business sense always helped in bad times though.It paid the bills) People are generally lazy especially minorities and white trash.

I had a white mother who worked for years for the Federal Gov., and she constantly complained that she was discriminated against due to her skin color (top computer programmer for FDA/H&HS). I felt her pain, because her strong German genes came through on me--Blonde hair and blue eyes.

I have a mixed family and we constantly laugh at how funny it is when my Spanish (from Spain thank god) cousin applies for school loans or jobs, with what ease he gets everything and the kitchen sink thrown at him. He recently applied for a small business loan (SBA Administration) for a gag, and he got approved before the ink had time to dry on his application.

I feel your pain! Because I understand Spanish, I here Mexicans bad-mouthing white people all the time.

As far as working hard... being (50% Anglo/ 50% Hispanic) and things will happen, well it's not that easy. I worked full time, while supporting a family while attending a very competitive state university and achieving a 3.6 GPA and couldn't get a Grant to save my life. I applied for 4 years doing everything necessary to look like a model student-but nothing! I was eventually told that I made too much money. Ahhh... barely making it from paycheck to paycheck is not making too much. Scored a 37 on the MCAT and got zilch interest.

We currently have a black female HR rep working for the company I'm with and she was previously fired from another related company for doing just that, slipping them to the bottom of the stack. LOL< It's kinda funny because the FDA just went and shut down a huge Pharmaceutical company for all kinds of violations here where I live. They have since opened it back up. Over 300 people were fired! Upper mgmt and middle management and every lab technician was also fired as well! It was told to me by a mechanic who works there that "they only want a certain group of people there." His words exactly!

Now they have ex-FDA agents going around watching and retraining everyone there. They are also on 10-12 hr shifts. But i have it from the inside that they do not believe anything will change or get better. They will continue down the same old road.
I was discriminated against by the temp agency who contracts for them. They hire every black person that comes through the doors and push to make them permanent first instead of trying to equalize it. I have seen it first hand.the mechanics themselves told me while I was there, that you have to be a certain color to work here. And it's very true.

I had a job interview with a Community college in Parma, Ohio (Tri-C)a few weeks ago. I am well qualified for the position except, I'm white! During the interview the Dean and the administrator (neither who are white)kept talking about diversity in culture and how you would have to relate to people from different backgrounds. After not being asked back for the second interview I realized what happened. I didn't get a second interview because, I'm white.

I have to say that I believe you may be right about White being the new minority. Every single company I have been interviewed at the majority of the employees were Black, all the hiring Managers were Black. I am as White as snow but I have a racially mixed family. Italian/Colombian/Jamaican so I am not racist in any sense of the word. But I will say that I have encountered several racist Blacks over the course of my life and have been interviewing with them as well! I was just at an interview today. The interviewer was Black. In the middle of my interview my cell phone went off with a Jamaican ringtone playing and the interviewer said "it just goes to show that I shouldn't have judged a book by it's COLOR". After he realized what he had said, he cut the interview short, shook my hand and told me I had gotten the job. Literally 2 minutes after that, I see him talking with a Hispanic man who had come to tell me he was sorry but the job had been filled 15 minutes ago and he was sorry! The interviewer told me they had hundreds of openings but now there are none?! WTF??? But the waiting room was filled with other Black applicants and they weren't being told to leave. They were still being interviewed!
