Yes...AK rifle first...then AK Draco pistol next. In a SHTF scenario, it would be great to have a rifle & pistol that accept the same ammo...especially, the 7.62X39 ammo :--))

I agree. But firing in the air worked for me once, but maybe i should have fired into the dirt. I was to scared to think that fast. An instructor did tell me that but who knows, i didn't check his creditials.

I think the American citizens you speak of, the ones who are not smart or responsible enough, for them getting a gun isn't really on their agenda. All the gun owners I know are very responsible and know their shit.

Gabriel, a word of advice so as to not to continue to be thought a novice or newb, it is "magazine, not "clip. A clip is a metal stripper to load guns such as the M1 Garand and SKS.

For situations of personal carry and home defense I usually recommend a revolver in .38 or .357. S&W, Ruger and Charter Arms offer reliable and affordable products. As a sidearm weapon for shtf I recommend a .40 or .45. with a rifle in .30 cal. as a main battle weapon.

and, may i add, if you bother reading the posts, this is not about banging our chests about owning a gun, rather this is about knowledge, safety tips, and other useful info. You where the only chest beating post on here. I think i speak for everyone in hoping you never purchase a gun.

Stay away from Bryco, Jennings and Jiminez...it's all the same company and their products are cheap junk.

If you are on a tight budget and want/need a pistol, I would recommend a Hi-point over a Bryco/Jennings/Jiminez. You can get a 9mm or a .45 for well under $200.

Best advice, save up and get something that you can really depend on.

No problem, I have been at this for a long time now. To give you an idea, I bought a Colt Python new retail for $89.95 at a base exchange in Okinawa and brought it back to the US in a carry-on bag through customs through Hawaii.

I have been doing some research since last fall preparing for a purchase and I'm finding myself drawn to revolvers due to their relative simplicity. With the 9mm it seems like I'd have to worry about the magazine jamming and also I don't like not being able to see the bullets. Had been considering the S&W 638, but based on conversations at the shop, I'm now leaning toward a Ruger 357 - its heavier so less kick and and can fire 38 & 357 ammo. Also, it's available in 4" and 6" barrels... I understand that means greater accuracy over short distances but can anyone advise on how much more accurate the 6 would be over the 4? Are there any other advantages to the longer barrel?

6in is better targeting but makes for a pretty big gun.(better get a shoulder holster) Most people i believe prefer 4in barrels. Hopefully others will provide you with more insight.

No idea. But the ones we have in Sweden make for good eatin'... preferably smoked.

I would add that if it is mainly for concealed carry and/or the nightstand, adjustable sights are optional. I prefer adjustable sights even on my CCW weapon, however, the combination of my carry style, particular weapons, body type, and seasonal choice of clothing are not prone to snagging.

If your revolver is a combination home protection and/or recreational weapon, and, if there is more than one person who will use the firearm, choose adjustable sights and a compromise of the longest barrel length comfortable and manageable for all potential shooters.
