The Hippies were an offshoot of the Beatniks, and were called the Hippies because they were into all the things that were "hip" at the time. (Beatniks coining the word "Hip") when the Hippie movement died off, where do you think most of you went? California isn't the holy land, my friend. Most of the Hippies of yesteryear are the suited boardroom walkers of modern years. They work for Haliburton, they work for Dick Cheney, they work for George W. Bush.

What the Hippies preached has been twisted into a self-gratifying apathy that further degrades our world than improves it. Free love has become fuck-everything-that-moves then leave the STD-laden pregnant underage girl to fend for herself. It's become "let it slide, man, everything's groovy" to an apathy where no one gives a damned about another's plights and people only think about what they want.

The Hippie movement failed, like Communism. Another relic of the past that regurgitates every now and then to cover something in bile.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Republican, nor do I vouch for "the man", and I actually love most 60's music. I just dislike every toasted-head burned out pudding brain telling me everything's just gravy when my life falls to shit around me, acting like the Hippies were all some grand-ideal race of dying elves. Nothing is gravy, go back to your pot and acid.
