Farmers watch harsh winter crush their livelihoods
For Northeastern farmers long used to coping with all sorts of cold-weather problems, this winter presents a new one: snow and ice that's bringing down outbuildings, requiring costly repairs, killing livestock and destroying supplies.

That's what the futures market (speculation) is for... it provides insurance against these sorts of events. Gutting speculation is a recipe for starvation. Farmers should concentrate on farming and leave the speculating to those with an appetite for the risk. During the good years, the farmers start bitching that the speculators are earning wads of cash "for nothing." If the good years go on too long, they eventually gang up and raid the speculators. Then, the bad years come and nobody saved up for a rainy day. Result? We're all fucked.

The real truth that dare not speak itself is that no one is in control [of the world], absolutely no one. Now there may be entities seeking control; the World Bank, the Communist Party, the rich... But to seek control is to take enormous aggravation upon yourself because this process that is underway will take the control freak by the short and curlies and throw them against the wall. - Terence McKenna

Yet 100 billion dollars a year is being stolen from people embezzled by the IPCC to fight a non existent problem.
