Simple.
The Sun is a spherical light emitting source. The Moon is reflecting sphere.
The lit side of the moon (reflecting sphere) WILL ALWAYS 'point' to the Sun (light emitting sphere).
Irrespective of Moon or Sun's position in the sky. (East or West).
Can this be misunderstood?
