Saudis told Obama not to humiliate Mubarak

1/29/11

Saudi Arabia has threatened to prop up President Mubarak if the White House tries to force a swift change of regime in Egypt.

In a testy personal telephone call on January 29, King Abdullah told President Obama not to humiliate Mr Mubarak and warned that he would step in to bankroll Egypt if the US withdrew its aid programme, worth $1.5 billion annually.

America’s closest ally in the Gulf made clear that the Egyptian President must be allowed to stay on to oversee the transition towards peaceful democracy and then leave with dignity.

“Mubarak and King Abdullah are not just allies, they are close friends, and the King is not about to see his friend cast aside and humiliated,” a senior source in the Saudi capital told The Times.

Israel and Saudi ‘Allies’ Press Obama to Ease Off Mubarak

2/9/2011

A strange if temporary Arab-Israel alliance has brought Defense Minister Ehud Barak to Washington to press U.S. President Barack Obama to be careful of a hasty change in the Egyptian government that could pave the wave for another Muslim country ruled by terrorists.

Barak is in Washington for a two-day visit that he initiated out of concerns that American pressure on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to resign might create more evidence that the Middle East – except for Israel -- is not safe for democracy.

Obama speaks with Saudi king about Egypt crisis, urges ‘orderly transition’

2/10/2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday spoke by telephone with Saudi King Abdullah to discuss the political crisis in Egypt, the White House said.

The White House said Obama spoke with Abdullah and “emphasized the importance of taking immediate steps toward an orderly transition that is meaningful, lasting, legitimate, and responsive to the aspirations of the Egyptian people.” The U.S. President also reaffirmed the long-term commitment of the United States to peace and security in the region.

For defending the 80 Coptic Orthodox and Christians slaughtered on the Christmas Day?

Really, get a grip.

The Pope asked the Egyptian gov't to protect the Christians, simple request.

To appease Israel, and other Islamic factions they rebutted the Pope in public.

YET, in private the gov't asked Muslims come out and surrounded the Churches after the deadly bombings. Notice NO more bombings after that.

This is geopolitics, read on the surface of things and under the surface of it. Mubarek has been making buddies with China and Russia recently, and then he extended a helping hand to the Christians, pissing off some alphabet guys and various factions.

Is that why Egypt recalled their ambassador to Rome, and Rome recalled their ambassador to Egypt just before this all started?

riker-back when the u.s. f-111's bombed quadafy's palace and killed one of his sons, the day before on the front page of the houston chronicle there was a small blurb saying that quadafy's secret police had just arrested the papal nuncio(ambassador) to libya. the day after the bombing there was a small blurb on the front page of the houston chronicle that the papal nuncio had been released.

I'm sure Obama is now profoundly sorry for not kneeling before yet another foreign power.

He'll be a good suck ass and and do what the Saudi king asks soon enough.

Perhaps you missed the fact they slaughtered Christians, what is so difficult to understand?

The Pope protested because it may have been black ops, collusion of some Egyptian gov't op

I'd rather he just resign. Is it too much to ask? I have nothing against the guy but he seems to be late to the table on so many issues.
