Ok, I don't usually post here, but I would like to put in my two cents worth.
I am a fat lazy wife. Hard to admit, but true. I am lucky that my husband takes our marriage vows seriously. He loves me the same as the day we got married. And yes, I was overweight then too. I have struggled with weight since I was a teen. I am 46 now. I am also lucky that my hubby continues to want to have sex with me. I don't like to because I feel so ashamed, but he loves me and still is attracted to me and makes me feel very loved, no matter what. I recently lost 50 pounds from weight loss surgery 1 year ago, but I am back to my old eating habits of eating too much starch and sweets, my downfall. I know I am lazy and am very ashamed of it, but can't figure out how not to be, been fighting it all my life. I yo-yo diet and yo-yo exercise, I just get so sick of not being able to eat the foods I love, and I get unmotivated to continue to exercise. I don't think this makes me a bad person, just a person who struggles with her own demons. Even therapy has not helped, so don't even suggest I go there. I know I am at risk of heart problems and diabetes, but even the scare of that doesn't get me off the couch!! I do have an exercise bike I used periodically that is in front of the tv in my bedroom, but the tv in the living room is so much bigger and has surround sound, I prefer to watch my shows in front of the big TV.
So, long story short, OP, you are a shallow asshole, and your wife is lucky to be rid of you. It is possible to love your wife even if she gets too fat, my hubby is proof of that!! There still are good men out there. :)

Fat people are an aberration when you look at all the poor children's forced to dig in junkyard to find something to eat.

Most of them have no disease at all but they used it as an excuse to justify their sin.

I've been married for going on 25 years, and fortunately for me, my wife has prided herself on trying to remain in shape and relatively slim. I married her what she was a bit chunky, but never made it an issue.

There are ways nowadays for obese folks to get help i.e Lapband surgery etc. The price has come down a lot at in the US , a lot of Insurance companies will pay all or some of it.

I would have tried to see if she would be willing to do the Lapband (probably a lot cheaper than a divorce).

If not, and she had no inclination or motivation to slim down, then possibly a divorce if she made no attempts to remedy her situation. It's like a drunk spouse with a longsuffering partner and the drunk spouse refuses to admit a problem of seek any help which ends up ruining the relationship and shows that they could care less about their spouse.

My wife was smoking hot 13 years ago when we got married but now that she had a couple of kids, she is as huge as a house. All she does is sit around all day watching soap operas and eating food. Speaking from experience, I can say that women have an intuitive nature that tell them how you feel without the male saying one word. Her weight is because of the constamt battle of feeling neglected and undervalued. She is the winner and the sooner this loser gets the balls to do the appropriate thing and fuckin leave, the sooner her life will improve.. No one deserves to be so unhappy and her unhappiness shows, his is only because he has no balls to do the right thing and accept the fact that he's a loser.
