How to remove Fluoride from tap water?
I've been looking and can't find a simple home solution. Ideally, I'd like to just filter my tap water. Seems like BRITA type fridge filters are out, and I don't want to buy water cooler bottles. I'm sick of drinking it and I certainly don't want my family doing so. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a Crown Berkey and we love it. So much so, that I bought another for our office and got one for my daughter.

You'd have to remove it from the source. Otherwise you are still absorbing the shit when you shower.

Fluoride is not easy to get rid of. You can use special filters but unfortunately they are frequently composed of aluminum compounds. Aluminum is deadly stuff to your brain function - maybe worse for the body than fluoride. You don't want to go there.

So, basically that leaves distillation or reverse osmosis. You can buy machines that can do these operations in your home. Regardless of what process you choose, follow processing with an excellent activated carbon filter.

Funny. Fluoride and aresenic removed by the same filter.

That seems pretty good too. Any thought on the Ecolablue things in the pinned thread? I've been hearing about them for years on AJ ads, but have only recently started considering one.

The media used in the PF-2™ filter elements contains high-grade activated alumina (Al2O3), which currently is the most efficient media available for extracting fluoride from water. Activated alumina is inert. Below are the results we obtained when testing the PF-2™ elements (the water was not pre-filtered through the Black Berkey® elements). The reduction over time is due to additional residual process dust being washed free from the PF-2™ elements as the system is used. To give a scale for comparison purposes we include test results from a national brand toothpaste and water boiled in an aluminum pan.

Oh I know I'm a lost cause, but I have someone special I'm looking out for now. She has no vaccinations, takes no medication, eats only fresh food I make for her and gets plenty of fresh air. Getting rid of the flouride is last thing I need to do.

Since I have basically no money I guess I won't be buying any of those filters. Don't they make any that are cheaper and work?

I have distillers and I use them when I make colloidal silver. They are not good for drinking water though because they remove all the beneficial minerals as well. The water is not healthful and tastes bad.

We researched it thoroughly and, all around, the Berkey was the best solution. Removes heavy metals, chemicals and fluoride, while leaving the beneficial minerals. It's expensive for the outlay, but cheaper than bottled water in the long run.

Btw, everyone who tries the Berkey water remarks on how good it tastes. Our Amish handyman got one after trying our water and you know how cheap they are, lol :)

From what I'm reading, only the best charcoal filters remove only 40-60% of fluoride.

That's the thing. I have a camp spot I go to every year. It has a spring fed waterfall on it. Last time I was there I drank the water straight from the creek(after I ran out of beer), and felt like a million bucks. Me needs that quality of water at home. I'll look in to the Berkey, thanks GG.

Re: How to remove Fluoride from tap water?
Try using calcium acetate.

You can make this by using any form of calcium (eggshells are pretty much pure calcium) soaked/dissolved in vinegar for however long.

Add a teaspoon full of the calcium acetate to each litre of water and the fluoride in the water will be converted to calcium fluoride, which will then be excreted by the body instead of being stored. Calcium fluoride is the only form of fluoride which is eliminated from the body.

Distillation and Reverse Osmosis Removes it

The reason why everyones going to tell you to go RO is because distillation is an electric hogger

No, eggshells are not pure calcium at all. They are mostly calcium carbonate.

Re: How to remove Fluoride from tap water?
If you want to completely remove fluoride you want to gone from the whole house so you aren't showering, bathing washing your hair, watering your vegetables. etc.

They aren't super cheap but if you take the cost sink filters and multiply by gallons it is a long term savings
