Climate Change to Cause Massive Food Disruptions
Climate Change to Cause ‘Massive’ Food Disruptions

Feb. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Global food supplies will face “massive disruptions” from climate change, Olam International Ltd. forecast, as Agrocorp International Pte. said corn will gain to a record, stoking food inflation and increasing hunger. Said Olam: “The fact is that climate around the world is changing and that will cause massive disruptions.”

[link to www.businessweek.com]

-- Last year was the warmest on record, together with 2005 and 1998, according to the Geneva-based World Meteorological Organization.

-- Food prices have become too high for some developing countries to buy the agricultural products they need, raising the risk of food riots, French Agriculture Minister Bruno Le Maire said earlier this month.

-- Protests, prompted in part by rising food prices, spread across North Africa and the Middle East in the past month, driving Tunisia’s President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali into exile after 23 years in power and ending Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule

-- Shrinking global food supplies helped push the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization’s World Food Price Index to a record for a second month in January. As food becomes less available and more expensive, “hoarding becomes widespread,” and prices of wheat and other grains are more likely to rise than decline in the next six months.

-- Corn futures surged 90 percent in the past year, while wheat jumped 80 percent and soybeans advanced 49 percent as the worst drought in at least half a century in Russia, flooding in Australia, excessive rainfall in Canada, and drier conditions in parts of Europe slashed harvests.

-- Global warming may help lift the prices of corn, wheat and rice by at least two-thirds by 2050.

-- Hoarding of agricultural products will intensify.

-- With demand growing and stockpiles dwindling, prices will remain high “if there is any supply disruptions in any part of the world,” Olam’s Verghese said. “We’re experiencing that today in the grains complex, the cotton complex and the coffee complex.”

--Cotton stockpiles will plunge to the lowest since 1996, according to USDA data.

Re: Climate Change to Cause Massive Food Disruptions
China hoarding food staples, world food prices continue to rise

Valhalla - China is hoarding corn, wheat and rice supplies in what a chief economist calls an “aggravating concern” as weather events across the globe continue wreaking havoc on grain productions, all combining to have a serious impact on global food prices. As major weather events continue unfolding across the planet, China currently holds 41 percent of the world’s primary grain stockpiles. Those grains - wheat, corn and rice - are at present the source of much concern as floods, fires and droughts are having devastating effects in major agricultural regions of the world.

[link to www.digitaljournal.com]

-- China's current drought conditions are seen as a primary factor in world wheat supplies not being replenished. After last summer’s fires, Russia (the fourth-leading wheat producer in the world) has banned wheat exports until summer at the earliest and the scenario is shaping up to have major ramifications.

-- On Monday, wheat futures soared to $9.15 USD, their highest point since 2008

-- The grain hoarding being conducted by the Chinese would not be a great concern under normal weather conditions, but catastrophic weather events - including floods and droughts in Australia, drought-related fires in Russia last summer and extreme conditions in China and parts of the US - are taking their toll on world supplies.

-- World wide, escalating food prices have been one of the causes of recent social unrest that have had major political implications, as recently seen in Egypt.

All planets in the solar sysytem are undergoing extreme climate change. Both our ionosphere and magnetosphere are declining rapidly because of the sun. The solar system is passing through a highly ionized belt in the galaxy right now. Many say this is causing a polar shift. Google these things for more information

What caused this climate change?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1265982

Probably a combination of factors:

-- Increases in global carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations beyond the do-or-die threshold of 350 ppm to the current 395 ppm.

-- Increases in release of methane (a potent greenhouse gas) caused by melting permafrost (permafrost stores up methane).

-- Perhaps changes in solar activity, solar intensity, and/or changes in the earth's magnetic field ... i.e., changes in anything that affects (1) the total amount of the sun's energy absorbed by the earth's atmosphere surface; or (2) the amount of heat energy from the earth's atmosphere/surface that escapes into outer-space.

-- Volcano eruptions.

-- Changes in ocean currents or the jet stream.

-- Loss of green plants.

-- Perhaps the tug-of-war stemming from the earth's entering a mini-ice age combined with simultaneous global warming.

Yeah, there are at least a dozen reasons why we won't make it to 2025 ... and the odds of making it intact to 2050 are pretty remote.

Average inflation alone will put us at those numbers in 2050 and most likely before.

That means its happening much SOONER!

What do you stand to gain some carbon credits do you?
Investing in useless clean energy are you?
Standing to get rich?
Or just a spastic that believes what hes told instead of looking into it for himself?
Carbon dioxide is proven to NOT cause warming on any catastrophic level.
The Earths temperature has gone DOWN for 15 years, and carbon emissions have gone up.

You are correct, but it could be that the article is referring to the price of food in real, not nominal, dollars ... otherwise that figure would be meaningless. IOW, the two-thirds increase is in addition to nominal inflation. But the article is ambiguous on that point.

"Climate Change" is the term they changed "Global Warming" to when they were busted and found out to be committing FRAUD and altering all the data to suit their agenda.
There is no "1000" year heatwaves in Russia would you like me to prove that to you dummy?
They happened only 100 years ago the same!
And the floods in Pakistan, and the floods in Queensland!
This "Crazy" weather shit is nothing whatsoever to do with the temperature of the whole planet, not global temperatures, not any catastrophic change in the climate.
It is to do with "normal" "natural" cycles that the Earth goes through all the time.
Events like this have happened not that long ago this is NOT extreme at all it is usual.
Do you understand how much money they want to make off people?Like cattle?
Using this climate change lie?
Can you even begin to comprehend how many people will DIE, and STARVE, because of the proposed laws they want to introduce because of this lie?
To turn us into a global one world communist state?
I think you need to do some research on what is real and what is fooling you.

The Weather changes because of cycles, it has nothing to do with the overall climate.

Re: Climate Change to Cause Massive Food Disruptions
If I were the OP I would start worrying about the consequences of a cooling planet and what that does to food supply.

Greenhouses routinely raise their CO2 levels to 1000 ppm or more to increase plant growth. I bet the OP is one of the masses who have no idea CO2 is the plant food; they think the plants live off the soil they grow in.

The 350 ppm level OP refers to is set by climate hysterics at an arbitrary level that has no scientific basis. CO2 levels have historically been up to 5000+ ppm with no correlation to global temperatures (as can be seen in Greenland ice core proxies.)

Nice response Norway. Was not there a petition signed by over 3000 scientists that refuted the global warming camp by disputing their science? And oh how sooo conveniently swept under the carpet by the MSM. ONCE AGAIN.

There's food shortage on now, - prices rising- NOT because things got warmer on this rock but because things got wet and icy all of a sudden.

The global warmers NEVER predicted that.... err well .. until Just recently!

Then maybe you should look at the raw un altered data to see there is actually no kind of catastrophic climate change.
This does not mean we couldn't do more to stop polluting the planet with bad pollutions.
But C02 is not a pollution its a natural atmospheric gas.
This is how those who pollute the Earth with low C02 pollutions, which are much more harmful seek to get away with keeping on doing this.
We do not live in an air tight container like a green house, the amount of escaping gas and radiation is controlled by the Earths magnetic field.
Which is controlled by the Sun and Moon which other bigger things in deep space control the Sun.
Just ask someone who is over 60 they have seen it all before.
How old are you I wonder? Not very old I think.

Re: Climate Change to Cause Massive Food Disruptions
The reason why the price of food is soaring, and there is less of it.
Is because of this carbon bullcrap, they are restricting land to grow food.
Land that is already cleared or does not contain native vegetation is being banned from being farmed in preparation to store this imaginary carbon problem.
And why is this happening?
Because all the advocates of this have economic interests in it and they want to reduce the population.
Because their global ponzi scheme can not continue with this many people.
And because if they kill off most people there is less people to revolt when they try to institute an official global dictatorship.
They want to starve people to death using this carbon lie and climate changing lie.
