I dreamt of terrible solar flares..DOOOOM??

I had a scary dream last night. I was watching solar flares in the skies over the UK. They were white and I asked my gf to film them on her iphone...but then the flares started looking like sparks coming into the atmosphere and looked like flames in the sky...I remember thinking "this cant be good for my body all this radiation"...

Does solar radiation get to the surface and affect us? Could it affect our biochemistry?
