my vote is for mexican judo.

I would go with the rogue class, ranger/nightstalker/bard build.

Um, Mui Thai kickboxing for stand-up combined with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the ground aspect, put them together and you got the best combo, IMO, Anderson Silva is the best fighter in the world and he pretty much uses these two styles, however, this guy has another higher aspect to his fighting that he is tapping into, he just seems to intuitively know somehow, because there's a lot of good fighters who use kickboxing/jiu jitsu but they sure arent like Silva.

muy thai is insanely frightening in close quarters.
all open shins out, dudes really train kicking bricks with their shins and forearm training on the same substrate.
("the protector" movies are a great example.)

JeetKunDo is the answer because there is no answer.
a good mix of any martial arts will be great when the mossberg gets magnetized by solar rays,
but jkd and bruce are all about the elusive unpredictible save yo ass style.

Jkd is all styles without styles, that is the riddle.
Pair the JKD answer with any shaolin drunken style, some ninjitsu and a lifetime of streetfighting and you might make it.

knives are our first and best weapon, they technically count as hand to hand....
learn how to slash, stab, gut, twist, hook, pick your own blade, ALWAYS HAVE IT.

Depends on the shit.

1. Dog Shit, 409, Lysol, rags and elbow grease.

2. Nuclear shit -- duck and cover.

3. Asteroid shit -- Change location

4. Alien shit -- eat it, I kid you not, its delicious.

5. Solar shit -- a yellow submarine

6. Baby shit -- pretend your on the phone and ask your wife to take care of it.

well to me living in the wood look more scary, We dont know how to survive anymore and winter is hell.

Whatever you - considering your ability, physical condition, time to devote to learning a fighting style, etc. - can realistically learn by the time you need it.

When it comes down to it, you'll be fighting for survival, not style points. You need to learn how to hurt people, badly, before they can hurt you (and be in good enough shape to actually do it).

IMO, most of the major martial arts disciplines were developed during relatively civilized times for use during relatively civilized times.

When TSHTF, all bets are off. There is but one rule: make sure you walk away the winner. Time is of the essence as most are not likely to be in top physical condition, and after the initial adrenaline surge, it will not take long for the average person to wear down, and become another casualty.

Bruce Lee's idea of the 'style of no style' comes to mind, as well as his sage advice on how to be like water, to flow and crash as needed.

Remember: there is no such thing as second place in combat (mortal combat is an oxymoron).
