Steve,

I read with interest your posting the other day from a Colorado caver. I too am a caver. Our grotto is in Arkansas, and I can tell you that MONTHS ago, when the “white nose fungus” was still only in the eastern states, ALL federal agencies in Arkansas closed ALL land under their control to ALL caving. This includes fish and game, U.S. forest service , fish and wildlife, the National Park service (over 400 known caves just on the Buffalo National River), and even the nature conservancy. At that time, and still yet today, there is absolutely NO evidence that there is a human vector involved, yet they closed them anyway, with criminal penalties for going in one. I believe that this was merely an excuse to keep all people out of all caves on all federal lands. I agree with the Colorado caver……..this is B.S. They don’t want people finding potential places to hide or cache, in my opinion. R.

Re: A million library books to be sent down the mines
ONE million books from Manchester's Central Library – including valuable volumes dating back to the 15th century - are to be put into temporarily storage with many going deep underground in the Cheshire salt mines.

Works from the city's reference library will be stored in the mines, hundreds of feet below ground, for the next three years while the landmark city centre site undergoes a massive refurbishment to save it from ruin.

Experts say the mine's caverns – the size of 700 football pitches - provide the perfect environment for preserving the manuscripts, which include the works of eminent academics.

A phased shut down of the St Peter's Square library will begin next month, with the site closing its doors in June. The Library Theatre, which will most likely relocate to the historic Theatre Royal, will close the following month with a celebratory show entitled Last Night at the Library.

A temporary city library will open in Elliot House, on Deansgate, where staff will also be able to arrange access to some rare reference works that are not available elsewhere in the country. All others will be stored in the salt mines from where they will be digitally catalogued but inaccessible for the duration of the refurbishment.

Cover story it should actually read " one million books to be stored in Cheshire salt mines to preserve during solar flare fire storms.burnit
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. †.

Re: A million library books to be sent down the mines
Aww crud. We are so doomed when they start putting all the books under the ground. I mean, someone sure knows something is going to happen. I told my folks that the Rockerfellers took their whole clan, grandchildren and great grandchildren to India to get out of the United States and to high ground. I tell people this stuff and they look at me like I am crazy, but I know something is about to happen! Just watch what is going on, people getting the hell out of here, people putting books in the ground. How much is it going to take to wake people up!

Personally I am not going underground.

Ever see the move The Time Machine? Watch the old version, it is better. Those who went below ended up as monsters!

I was born above ground, my life is here, my home is here. I don't belong underground. I'll just get fried I guess, but maybe God will sustain me.

In the US, if it hasn't been read in the last 12 months, it goes.
