Call social services, go through the red tape. There's a shitload of that red tape, and most homeless don't bother. The depression doesn't help either. You'll probably be homeless for a bit, don't be scared. Bring a towel, wear two pairs of pants and keep the money in the inner pair that you get. Wear what you need, don't carry anything in bags. A car and a mobile phone are your best friends if you can hang onto those. Never sell your car first if your money's going downhill. A car means a safe place to sleep, and mobility. A phone means internet/email and continued search for a job.

Safe places to sleep are:

Libraries (also a good place to surf the internet job boards, keep in touch with family, and read books.)
Fast food bathrooms (you'll get kicked out, but they won't get wise to you for awhile)
Subways
Homeless shelters.

I've never had a problem getting a job before, but this damn depression has made it impossible for me to land ANYTHING.

My wife left me so I have no dough. I don't have any family members to help me either.

Fortunately my car is paid for and I have a cell phone.

Unfortunately I don't have the money to keep my car fueled up and insured. Even if I did, the pigs like to harrass people living in their cars.

Interesting History - They used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken & sold to the tannery.......if you had to do this to survive you were "Piss Poor"

But worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn't even afford to buy a pot......they "didn't have a pot to piss in" & were the lowest of the low

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children.
