AMBIEN and ALCOHOL. My Uncle died Friday night. Anyone know about this drug.

Ambien is very dangerous. I had it prescribed once. Not something to mix with alcohol.

They let me get a good 4 hrs of sleep....then I wake up...I wish they lasted all night.

They have not killed me yet....but they will sure put you to sleep.

all I know is I saw one of those commercials that said "if you've taken Ambien you could be at serious risk" you know what I'm talking about? see them all the time for different prescriptions...

We have used Ambien/Zolpedim for several years now works ok. As far as alcohol- I would not think that is a good mix at all. Especially if someone took a lot more than they were supposed to with alcohol. How much of each thing did he take?

I take ambien nightly... it's definitely a medication that you don't mix.

All of the following have me starting from my bed at least 30 minutes after medication intake, as prescribed. I've fallen twice, don't remember. My wife has retrieved me from the shower. I've been found sleeping on the stairs. When the med kicks in, conscious in control me checks out, irrational and sometimes very child-like me checks in... pouts, cries, giggles.

Right now it's the only thing the VA will give me to help me sleep. I have just all around bad pains that prevent me from sleeping, this is the only way I can get at least 4 hours.

I know that you can metabolize about 3 pills before anything truly harmful happens... after that you are just asking for trouble mixing anything that makes you sleep with a depressant like alcohol.

Ambien by itself can cause sleep walking.

I met a woman whose mother took it, laid down for 15 minutes asleep and then got up, drove to K-Mart in a subcompact and demanded that a half ton of bags of potting dirt be loaded into her tiny car.

The mother called her daughter while interacting with the manager. The daughter convinced her to let her talk to the manager. She explained that her mother was a sleep "sleep walking" and to keep her there.

The daughter picked her up and drove her home. She kept her mother's keys. Later the mother called the daughter to tell her her keys were missing. The mother had no recollection of the trip to K-Mart.

In another case, a woman who was afraid of sharp objects was found in the bathroom with a razor bleeding from her face. She was apparently unaware of the damage she was doing to herself.

The ambien mixed with alcohol probably enlarged his heart.

Question: Can you mix ambien and alcohol?

Answer: NO. Unless you are trying to kill yourself. Ambien and alcohol is an extremely dangerous combination and you can ingest a lethal dose before you ever feel the effects of either drug. Death can occur from one Ambien and a couple beers or shots. The depressive quality of Ambien on your respiratory system is multiplied with alcohol use. Using the two together is really a gamble with your life.

Dam same thing here 4 to 5hrs , the Cr longer acting does help you sleep a bit longer but are expensive as there is no generic .Mixing booze and ambien could kill you easy respiratory depression it was happen , same thing zannix and booze can do .This combo kills people daily i bet .

I have taken 30 10mg at once, washing them down w/ Rum. It did not work in the desired manner. Sorry for your loss.

Not sure, but I knew him well and he was a big guy, 6-3 240-250. He would drink 4-5 tall boys (16oz of beer) when he did drink. He didn't drink all week and got some beer fir night. Not sure how many pills he took though.

He must have really wanted to go to sleep?

I mean, Christ, isn't it a known fact that medication (or other drugs) and alcohol don't always mix?

That crap made me hallucinate. I'd rather endure my chronic insomnia than deal with that stuff.

Simular thing happened with a friend who took Ambien--she got up and went to work late at night and could not figure how no one was there. This drug is not for everyone and always take the smallest dose that will work for you.

That is my rule---first time use--take half---see how it affects you! I think Dr.s give a good dose but some should use a lot less.

I used to drink a lot and would sometimes take an ambien.

I did things I don't remember at all. I was very ashamed and embarassed when I heard some of the things I did.

Like drunken rampages and wetting myself. I was on vacation visiting my daughter. I had some drinks after dinner and the last thing I remember was taking an ambien to get a good night's sleep. She woke me up at 11:00 and aksed me if I remembers what I did. I did not. I was a total jerk to her, her hubby and my grankids. I went on a ranting range and she even called my husband because no one could calm me down. I was sooooo embarrassed. That is not me.

I stopped drinking 3 years ago.

DO NOT mix alcohol and ambien.

I am VERY well aware of it....

Basically this... it triggers the same area of your brain that being drunk does, although you wont know it unless you try to get up and do something.

Now if you were to take a couple of Ambien and chased it with a 6 pack I could certainly see how it would cause a massive shutdown.

Ambien is not something to be taken lightly......I have seen whole productions of things going on right in front of me that never happened. Just a warning.

I mix ambien with alcohol a lot, probably more than I should. I took 4 while I was wasted one night, and stayed up and functioned for about 2-3 hours without remembering a single second of it.

Sounds like way too much. What is the alcohol content of the beer in your state? It is low here in Utah

LMAO THAT IS SO FULL OF SHIT. I drank 4 four lokos last night (24 OZ, 12% alcohol) and 3 ambien. I mix it all the time, sure its possible to die by mixing these but no fucking way in hell a few shots or a few beers and one ambien could ever kill anybody

Actually it is not as known as you would think. I won't take an aspirin unless in sever pain. But many people don't know .

about 5.0 to as much as 8.8. but i think he got the cheap stuff like keystone (closer to the 5.0) or whatever is similar in price.

It amazes me just how drugged the population is...

You are probably young and in good health. But you are risking. This man may have had other health problems that pills and alcohol turned against him.

Keep it up and you might be in the eternal sleep as well, just saying now you heard. Why would you even chance it?

He was 51 and otherwise in good health.

Sounds like he may have been drunk--then took pills---who knows how many.

Had a friend who had dank a little red wine before going home and taking her Ambien, in the morning she woke up to her cat, Shaved and terrified of her. her arms were all scratched up and a fair amount of blood on the sheets in her bed. She had no memory of the event.
