This threa is NOT about insulting a particular race. When I saw the images of the earthquakes in Haiti, China, and Chile, for some reason I felt so detached from those people, of course it's really sad, but it seemed like it was in another reality. Now when I see the pictures on the news of all the WHITE people with blood dripping off thier faces, crying and scared, it just REALLY disturbs me. I realize I'm in NZ, but still. It disturbs me more to see a white person suffer than another race. Is that horrible? how about the jews? how do you feel about them? im jewish just asking.. |

I told someone this in effect the other day inreference to Haiti. I just don't feel the same emotion as I do when it's black kids as opposed to white kids. Put it this way: how many scholarships does the average white student in college get as opposed to black kids? And who gets the great amount? And how many scholarships do you think exist that are awarded to people of a specific race to the exclusion of whites and other races? Trust me in saying that it's a lot. As victimized as the white student feels in not being eligible for a scholarship on account of color besides meeting the merit requirements, these are the same instances. A black person refers to "his community", wanting to give back to his community. A white person can and SHOULD feel the same way towards White people. It's not racist. Some say to feed every hungry American mouth before giving aid to foreign countries. It's not nationalist, it's discriminating charity, keeping your own house in order before trying to help others. This is not bad and I think the world would be better off if the philanthropists tried exclusively helping those which they represent in appearance as far as race is concerned. |

You live in an insignificant place on earth. No economic power, no military power, and no cultral significance at all. You really have little value in this world. Your Country could sink into the ocean and no one would care. The USA is the only place that matters, the rest are just there for us to visit or use. Not a black or white thing, just God loves America more and the rest of the world can screw themselves. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1273503 Australia 02/22/2011 04:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP it is just about communication. If the videos and info you got were in English and understandable about others, you could relate more. I was thinking about this to today. It actually is the case that white societies have better support networks, better caring networks, so no matter how fucked we are we still pull together in a disaster. I could be wrong, those caring networks might exist in other nations, but i do not know the language and I do not see footage of how everyone is pulling together other than looking helpless and waiting for someone to help other than their government who does not, it seems. SO of course, you can only care where you can see a point, where you understand, can see otehrs reaching out and helping. Well, I say YOU but of course, I mean ME. Where something is completely out of my control and where nothing I feel can help, I switch off - it's natural - because anything else does not help me or the sufferers. I was just talking to my partner about this too - we just went through the floods here in Queensland, and because of the stalwart Queensland psyche, it did not make for good TV. I don't think anyone would like to hear this, but the emotions of the NZ people do. So we care more. Well, it tugs on our emotional strings more. Caring really is about action, not empathy. Empathy is just feeling the same, no more, no less. There is no point in emotionally dwelling on someone else's problems if you are not involved in taking action. |

Race and a people heritage used to be at the core of what each peoples stood for, fought to defend. At the core of each of us, we somehow think "Our People" is better in some way. We have defenses, and we still retaliate is childish ignorance. We are meant to be apart, each Race. The bible teaches us about Race, but that lesson is overlooked. Even the story of Babel is a dead ringer for America today. I love White People too! |
