Re: Your Pet. How would you COOK him/her?
Probably with salt and pepper. Just kidding. I have no pets.

I read a story once about WWII I believe. Somewhere in Russia, people were starving, lots of nasty stuff going on. Apparently soldiers came upon a sad scene. There was a cat that had been killed and was ready to be eaten by it's owner. The owner of the cat, who was starving, couldn't live with the fact that he had killed his cat so he decided to kill himself by hanging. The rope snapped and he fell and broke his leg badly. He died of exposure instead. Always stuck in my head as terribly sad. Not the kind of situation people with full bellies should be speculating about. Just hope you never find yourself needing to eat a pet. If some of the facts of that story are wrong, I apologize, been a long time since I read it.

I've read similar. Allot of tragic things happen. In the end, life doesn't care.. it just happens. I think people should think about it... because it does happen. It doesn't have to... but SOMETHING will have to motivate people to avoid that history.

When I mentioned not speculating, I didn't mean that I wouldn't under terrible circumstances do distasteful things to preserve my life. I would do whatever was necessary. Knowing that I'll do what needs to be done is enough for me. I can't dwell on specific acts while I've got a full stomach is all. I've thought plenty though, believe me. I agree that it doesn't have to happen again but most likely will. Sad that we know whats happened in the past and seem ready to repeat it all over again. Of course the history books, though written by the winners, are full of repetition.

I know, and they all show the same cycle of a power, and one with too much technology, and too few people who cared for the blessing under their feet.

Our dogs are 'work dogs' trained for guarding and both have experience hunting in the field. As such they are more of an asset alive than dead.

Believe it or not the Schnauzer/Yorkie mix has proved to be indispensable hunting bird, she is extremely fast and is able to silently run up on the birds and get them to take to wing. I was actually surprised at how well she does this.

She is also a good mouser and has already caught and killed two squirrel.

Such skills will be very valuable in a post collapse scenario.

The Rott/Lab is getting old, but still holds her own fetching duck and other birds once they are shot. Both dogs together are far better than just one alone.

Thus I doubt eating the dogs would be the wisest choice.

Re: Your Pet. How would you COOK him/her?
Actually, people are much more abundant.
TOO abundant.

The logic involved is simple-
Eat all the people trying to shoot all the animals.

You then get to eat all the animals after you ate all the people. 2 for 1 special, twice as long with half the work.

People last a lot longer anyway.
It's all about efficiency....people.

Dog is actually quite tasty.Ate them several times in the Philippines. Taste similar to goat, somewhat richer. Serve with a nice gravy.

Not sure how cat would best be prepared. I'd say put the kitty in a smoker with a greek seasoning.

Never. Animals are far too valuable to eat. They can be used as spotters (Of prey), hunters, and guard dogs or a really pissed off cat.

Ever try to train a FAT cat? Really?
 Quoting: Oklahoma

How fat are you? I have one plump cat who's a faster mouser than any of the others. The pets don't take up so much room or resources. We have many more surplus humans that are more trouble than they're worth - like those who threaten the lives of their betters (pets) in public.

Look out, animal haters. We'll be cooking you up for side dishes for our pets - well, maybe if your rampant drug use hasn't made you too toxic even for that.
