Such as Marten 3000 trucks Swift over 10,000 trucks JB Hunt non union also KLLM, US Express, Central, Knight and Stevens all non union and it sucks for us pay is low hours are long and these companys haul a large portion of the food, water and other commoditys used in everyday life. But if the trucking companys that are union strike I for one will not cross picket lines to pick up a load. On another note fuel prices a re starting to go up. If the few union drivers that are left want to continue collecting their paycheck they will stay and work ... otherwise there are 100000000 mexicans and arabs lined up to take their jobs at a fraction of what your union friends are currently making. |

This definitely has potential to create some bigger problems. Food prices going up and gas too. People can't even handle running out of syrup at Denny's so you never know how people might react. |

Walmart hauls alot of their own freight. But truckers are truckers and if a national "shut down" days is instituted by the the unions then we have a problem because most truckers will honor it in support of the unions. The main reason is our pay keeps going down more and more all the time. |

I've never seen anything like this before. Just sayin..... |
anonymous coward User ID: 1257777 United States 02/24/2011 05:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: If The Attack On Unions Continue To Spread Look For Other Unions To Strike Too Including Teamsters Freight Will Stop Having been a member of a State union, I can tell you that they approach any negotiation in an antagonistic way, demanding this, that, and the other thing or they'll strike. That used to work, but now THERE IS NO MORE MONEY!! The Governor is merely asking them to provide a single-digit percentage contribution to their OWN health-care (which is now free) and to their OWN retirement funds. He is not trying to wipe them out; rather, he is trying to come up with a way that EVERYONE can keep their jobs! If they are UNWILLING to do the right thing to keep ALL of their colleagues working, then he will have no choice other than to lay off teachers. What this really boils down to is that the UNION is worried that their billion-dollar gravy-train is now in danger of getting side-tracked. They see the writing on the wall, that if they "lose ground" in Wisconsin, they will be set to lose ground in the other 49 states which also, co-incidentally, are BROKE. So they are desperately whipping up their membership, creating chaos and turmoil so no one has the time or inclination to say "Wait a minute, maybe we need to take a fresh look at the role of unions in the modern world. Maybe we need to ask why, if these people are PUBLIC employees, are the taxpayers (their "employers" who are paying for their salaries and benefits) being put into the "pigeonhole" of the big, fat, greedy "boss" whenever there are contract negotiations?" |

Politicians promise the people's money. It's not their money and they will be out of office when the math don't work any more. The market place controls most unions to a certain degree. If non union shops compete better than union shops then unions will die off. |
