Modern Day Mining (Poll) I'm interested in your opinion.

Ok I'll go first, since we all like our preps how can we buy them if someone doesn't dig them?

I'm ok with it as long as the original ecosystem gets renewed.

And for those that say no, do you own silver or gold? hmm

why dont we just mine the near by asteroids for minerals? i heard theres a 300billion dollar asteroid floating about america and its made of nickel!

Pretty good chance I'm headed to the Nevada gold mines to work is why I ask.......for real good dollar.

I'm pretty sure that all the best minerals have been mined out. they are going pretty deep into the earth now. There are over 50,000 abandoned mines in the USA alone and that doesn't include all the abandoned wells in the Gulf.

I would rather we off world our mining. Plenty of dead worlds and rocks out in near space to mine.

Until such time, we need to seriously find ways to preserve the ecology while extracting ores, and once we are done restore the area to its previous natural state.

Slag dams, open pits that are abandoned, toxic lakes of chemicals - are all around bad things.
