If police survives, your guns will be outnumbered. If they don't, it might help you kill the criminals Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1263679...but the police officers can't be everywhere at the same time. Also, what makes you think all police officers are good people? Why would a police officer who is hungry and has a family to feed too not kill me and my family and take our food/weapons/ammo/shelter? Not everyone has a good heart and not everyone is going to be thinking rationally if "the shit hits the fan". AR 15-SPECIALIST Admit it! We’re Fucked User ID: 1059439 United States 02/27/2011 02:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would recommend a home defense shotgun first, you can pick up a nice one at a retailer like Cabellas for less than 300.00. It's simple to use and will inflict a lot of damage. You dont have a "dead eye" either...point in the direction you want and pump away.. You dont need a high priced 00 buck shot or tungsten round...regular ol #8 birdshot will prety much drop whoever with 10-15 yards. If you looking at a handgun I would recommend either a 9mm or .40cal, highly effective round plus I would imagine it would be easy to come by if TSHF. TRUMPS FAULT |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1240601 United States 02/27/2011 03:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Handgun is a backup....have a AR-15 or AK as a primary weapon.... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1270082AR-15 in a SHTF scenario isn't the wisest choice. Especially compared to an AK-47. When TSHTF, you'll want something rugged, something reliable and something that won't mind if you skip a cleaning or two. The AR's are nice and precise weapons, and you can group very nicely at long ranges, but they are impractical, prone to jamming and very needy as far as weapons go. An AK-47 on the other hand is a much better choice, you can use and abuse them and they'll keep firing. Cleaning AK-47's is optional and they will still function if you forget to or cannot clean it for whatever reason. They are also cheaper and ammunition is around the same price as AR's. The recoil might be a bit much to an untrained shooter, but they are well worth it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 946424 United States 02/27/2011 03:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here are some facts about handguns you need to be aware of: 1) 86% of all people shot with a handgun survive. 2) On a scale going from throwing rocks to an intercontinental ballistic missile, handguns are relatively LOW in terms of power. They're not a particularly powerful weapon in general. 3) We like handguns because they're concealable, they're light and they're easily handled. They're generally easy to learn to use - the glock style are one of the easiest. The 1911s are much more difficult. 4) They're cheap, too. You can get a used glock for a few hundred dollars and the ammo is only about 30 cents a round for something like a 40 caliber. 5) Go to Front Sight (Pahrump Nevada) if you want some awesome and FUN training. |

Xare User ID: 1204287 United States 02/27/2011 03:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Handgun is a backup....have a AR-15 or AK as a primary weapon.... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1270082That is how most people think. But if you have to go to the handgun its because there is a problem. AR-15's have lots of problems in real battle. They only want to run "wet" meaning they have to be cleaned and oiled very well and have lots of maintenance to make sure it will fire. An AK is nothing like that, it does not need to be coddled to fire. If the world is going into a SHTF scenario you want an AK. It was designed with better tolerances and it does not "Shit" where it eats. Either option is a great black gun to strike fear in people. Especially with a bayonet attached. But if this theoretical SHTF scenario is WWIII I would not carry a Pistol. I would have a 308 scoped sniper rifle and my AK as backup. |

A police officer is out in the world right now doing his job as protectors of the law and citizen. Now put them in a "shit hits the fan" scenario where everyone is going crazy and wild, mass deaths everywhere, and you nor your friendly officer is going to think rationally. People will be trying to survive using any method that works. We see officers today abusing their "power", what makes you so sure they won't be abusing it in an apocalyptic scenario.
