How is he leading people to hell? Belief in hell does not save us, Christ does - He's the Savior of all, to be evident in due time. God has no need to dispose of people in some mythical incinerator, because against popular doctrine, He's able to save to the uttermost.

Well, they translated words according to what it would be more understandable by the people. Tartarus was not a known mythical place in the non-greek educated world. They also translated words that were meaning "food" as "meat" probably because most germanic people had the meat as the main food while this would be a very rare occasion in the East Mediterranean.

Then explain this:

Mark 9:43 "If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire,
Mark 9:44 where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.

The greek word for "hell" is this context is "Gehenna" which was a literal place in the Valley of Hinnom south of Jerusalem.

It represents the worst possible combination of filth, dead bodies, decay, etc. Roughly translated into English is the equivalent term "hell".

Re: HEBREW AND GREEK WORDS IN THE BIBLE MISTRANSLATED TO MEAN HELL
Hel is the Goddess of the Dead, She is the Ruler of the Underworld. She watches over the spirits of the dead, especially mothers and children who die in childbirth. Good souls reincarnate. Evil souls are sentenced to a frozen death. Afterall, she was a Norse Goddess and the Norse dread the cold.

silly Christians don't even know that they are practicing bastardized, demonized, and twisted paganism.

No its not bullshitter its in fucking Israel its the valley of the son of hinnom its now a fucking Park!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 301517

No, he's RIGHT about Hel. There are two concepts here (at least, possibly more when we consider the Greek Hades/Tartarus). The word Gehenna does come from the place and way of life you mention, but the word "hell" does indeed come from the old Norse goddess Hel, who was the ruler of the Underworld as he describes. And the worst part of her domain would be the frozen area reserved for the wicked. People imagine "Hell", the place of torment after death, according to their cultural norms. For the ancient jewish people it might have been spending eternity in that city rubbish dump. For the Greeks, it might be spending eternity in darkness or having to do onerous tasks repeatedly. For the Norse, it might mean spending eternity in a frozen place.

Just as people create God in their own likeness, so they create "Hell" according to what they hate and fear.

There is no real place such as "Hell". We create it by our beliefs and actions. Ultimately we will be our own most severe judges after we are dead. Regret probably is one of the most painful emotions.

The OP is actually correct in what he is stating. The Bible has been MISINTERPRETED - LITERALLY - on many occasions and many passages. This means that the words and phrases in the original Hebrew and the Greek translations have been...MISINTERPRETED by the English translators. They got it wrong. Why should you or anyone else be bound by something someone translated INCORRECTLY hundreds of years ago? That is just silly. We should go back to the original languages and see what was actually meant.

I have such an answer for this, For one, The Bible, is a book that was put together after Christ and translated by King James. And it was very carefully translated, however, still with the idea that "Hell" was a literal place of burning forever. The BIBLE DOES NOT verify this and I will leave you a link of how it was misunderstood as such.

[link to www.godsplanforall.com]

(this is very lengthy, and really if you are interested in knowing the TRUTH and not what you believe to be the truth, you will benefit greatly from this.)

There has been so many beliefs revolving around English language being translated and misunderstood, such as "Hell" and other things that many Christians believe is the Laws of God. I do believe tho, that as long as a person is saved with intentions to love the Lord and not with intentions of fear of going to Hell, they will learn the truth when they are ready to. I don't judge anyone for what they believe even if it is wrong. Only God, Our Father, knows yours and our hearts! And I believe from deep studies of scripture both in the Greek, Hebrew and English translations, that most of the bible translated even in English, it was blessed by God to be as pure and perfect for us to understand because we do need something solid to go by, but what many Christians misunderstand, is that they do not study the bible as thourally as they may think they do. Because there were laws and regulations back in the time's of Moses, but they were not the same as they are in our culture today. And.. those were Gods laws, not what Americans know as Gods laws today. By the way, you might want to know, that most of Gods laws, pertained to what the Holy Spirit teaches Christians today. He wanted our hearts, not our obedience without a heartfelt meaning behind it.

Re: HEBREW AND GREEK WORDS IN THE BIBLE MISTRANSLATED TO MEAN HELL
Lets put all the sophistry aside and look at a small passage in Revelation:

Revelation 6:7-8

American Standard Version (ASV)

7 And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, Come.

8 And I saw, and behold, a pale horse: and he that sat upon him, his name was Death; and Hades followed with him. And there was given unto them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

This is the fourth seal of Revelation. It is coming right after food prices get so high people are working a day for a loaf of bread (3rd seal is completed).

MOST (VAST MAJORITY!) of the people who live in this 4th part of the Earth will die and descend to "Hades". The small percentage who follow Christ will be carried up to Heaven by the first angel of Death.

Listen up you unbelieving TARDS. This is a serious judgment coming very soon MOST people will not make the cut PERIOD. See Jeremiah 52:

28 This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty;

29 in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons;

30 in the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.

So of a huge city, only 4600 were judged worthy and spared. That is at most 2% !!!! It will be the same when the fourth seal is broken. The Angel of Death will not have a lot of work to do, because most of you are NOT worthy.

Repent now while it is still given to you. There will come a day very soon when repentance will be taken away. This unknown day will happen before the fourth seal in broken and no one on Earth will be able to pinpoint it.

There is nothing worse than suffering a lifetime in this shithole, only to be judged unworthy and cast into a dark pit awaiting final judgement and a final termination in a lake of fire.

Yep, That is the sign. Food prices have been going up for the last 4 years. They will continue going up until we hit the point that people are working a day for a quart of wheat (loaf of bread).

No major worldwide doom will happen until food prices get that high. Then the 4th seal will be broken RIGHT ON SCHEDULE. All the other doom that fills this board happens after the fifth seal, problem is most of the people on this board will be dead from the 4th seal verysad

I agree and object to that at the same time... as a Christian I am here... but I understand you might have a bias and would prefer if you were someone Christ-centered but looking for truth

otherwise you may just be another deceiver--there are many... this is proven...

but thanks OP...

and please keep documenting your findings thoroughly--I am interested in this topic, as someone who includes NDEs in my research and as someone who thinks that "good" people go to heaven... "good" defined by God and not for me or anyone to judge...

hence the import of Christ, IMO... many of us need forgiveness of sins...

Define where the ones in bold are.

Isa:65:12:
Therefore will I number you to the sword,
and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter:

because when I called,
ye did not answer;
when I spake,
ye did not hear;
but did evil before mine eyes,
and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
Isa:65:13:
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD,
Behold,
my servants shall eat,
but ye shall be hungry:
behold,
my servants shall drink,
but ye shall be thirsty:
behold,
my servants shall rejoice,
but ye shall be ashamed:
Isa:65:14:
Behold,
my servants shall sing for joy of heart,
but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart,
and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

Isa:65:15:
And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen:
for the Lord GOD shall slay thee,
and call his servants by another name:

Where was Jonah?

Jon:2:5:
The waters compassed me about,
even to the soul:
the depth closed me round about,
the weeds were wrapped about my head.
Jon:2:6:
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains;
the earth with her bars was about me for ever:

yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption,
O LORD my God.

It is all over the Old Testament. Here are a few:

Micah 3:4
Then they will cry to Yahweh, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time, because they made their deeds evil.

Did the Lord save anyone not in the Ark, after the rains started ? Did He spare anyone after the Angel passed through Jerusalem and marked the righteous on their forehead:

Ezekiel 9
3 Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub on which it rested to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writing case at his waist. 4 And the Lord said to him, “Pass through the city, through Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.” 5 And to the others he said in my hearing, “Pass through the city after him, and strike. Your eye shall not spare, and you shall show no pity.

To understand the 4th seal and what it is all about you need to read the books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel.

There is an angel in the Book of Revelation who goes around the whole earth warning people not to take the Mark. He does this after the 7th trumpet. Now warning people to not take the mark AFTER it is enforced is stupid and evil, so this angel must give this warning BEFORE the mark.

That places the mark of the Beast very far down, after the 7th trumpet. Most of you people are going to die in the 4th seal and not have to worry about this, so your comment is off topic.

You do not believe me because of all the paid false prophets from seminaries going around saying things that break scripture. Anyone who claims to speak for the Lord and breaks the inherent order of the prophecies in the Book of Revelation is a false prophet and should be ignored.

103 QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SOUL AND SHEOL
[link to www.tithing-russkelly.com]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9524164

Why doesn't God say that the dead have ceased to exist?

19. Why give non-existence a place name?

20. Isa. 7:11 Ask a sign for yourself from the LORD your God; make {it} deep as Sheol or high as heaven.

If Sheol is only the grave, how can it be as deep as the heavens are high?

21. Isa. 14:14-15 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.' Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol, to the recesses of the pit.

If Sheol is only the grave, how can it be as deep as the heavens are high?

22. Ezek. 31:16 I made the nations quake at the sound of its fall when I made it go down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit; and all the well‑watered trees of Eden, the choicest and best of Lebanon, were comforted in the earth beneath [nether world].

If Sheol is non-existence why describe it as "going down to the pit"?

23. Jonah 2:2 And he said, "I called out of my distress to the LORD, and He answered me. I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; Thou didst hear my voice.

How can non-existence have "depths"?

24. Was Jonah wrong when he described Sheol as the bottoms of the mountains in the oceans?

25. Jonah 2:6 I descended to the roots of the mountains. The earth with its bars {was} around me forever, but Thou hast brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God.

How can all of this pictorial language make sense if death and Sheol are non-existence?

26. Amos 9:2 Though they dig into Sheol, from there shall My hand take them; and though they ascend to heaven, from there will I bring them down.

If Sheol is only the grave, how can it be as deep as the heavens are high?

27. Job 24:19,20 Drought and heat consume the snow waters, {so does} Sheol {those who} have sinned. A mother will forget him; the worm feeds sweetly till he is remembered no more. And wickedness will be broken like a tree.

Does not non-existence consume both the righteous and the wicked in SDA theology?

28. Prov. 7:27 Her house is the way to Sheol, descending to the chambers [chader: 2315] of death.

Does non-existence have chambers?

29. Ps. 55:15 Let death come deceitfully upon them; let them go down alive to Sheol, for evil is in their dwelling, in their midst.

If Sheol is death and non-existence, what does "go down alive to Sheol" mean?

30. Isa. 28:15, 18 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have made a pact. The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by, for we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.... And your covenant with death shall be canceled, and your pact with Sheol shall not stand; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, then you become its trampling {place.}”

How can one make a covenant or pact with non-existence?

31. Hab. 2:5 Furthermore, wine betrays the haughty man, so that he does not stay at home. He enlarges his appetite like Sheol, and he is like death, never satisfied. He also gathers to himself all nations and collects to himself all peoples.
