Lord, Our Heavenly Father,

You alone are Most High, praise your Holy Name. We seek your help and guidance regarding your daughter Merry Oaks. Please pour out your Holy Spirit on her, to strengthen her, lift her up, and guide her during this time of trial.

We know that the gift of free will that you so graciously gave us can bring us great joy, but also great suffering sometimes if used in a way that is not according to your perfect will and your perfect family instruction in your word, the Bible.

We know that we can't change a person, only you can if that person is willing and surrenders completely to you. We also know that it is not your will for us to suffer at the hands of another person who is not obeying your commandments to love, care for and cherish. We know it is your desire for all of your children to be happy and healthy, both physically and emotionally.

Only you know Merry's situation and what is in her heart, and what is best for her and her family. We ask that you would guide her, give her complete clarity in the direction that she should go according to her needs and your perfect holy will.

Help her to see how beautiful she really is, how much she is valued and loved by you, help her to understand that she is worth loving, and her value is so great that it can't even be measured. Please show her that she is worthy of being loved, cared for and happy. Lift the cloud of doubt and confusion from her mind Lord.

Please take her hand, and show her the way that she needs to go.

Thank you guys for your prayers. I actually am divorced from him for the past 10 years, he lives across the state, but he has my youngest son who is 17, and will not finish high school until May 2012. My youngest son went through kindergarten 2x because of dyslexia which he has now overcome.

I always believed and hoped after the divorce I would be free from x and his abuse, but he has taken me to court various times for child support, more child support, insurance coverage, etc.

I am currently paying 826/month in upkeep for my son, which I do see "a just amount of maintenance for him" is my responsibility to provide. The x however makes 3x what I do and at the drop of a hat calls me into court for nonsense. I have paid $2000 in legal fees this time around, won the case and now he is threatening to take me back to court for more nonsense because he was found to be in contempt & ordered to pay me $1700 and face 2 days in jail if he failed to do so.

He now has dug in his mind for another threat of lawsuit to simply harass and grind me into the ground. So yes, his abuse has continued.

The youngest son had braces (orthodontia) 2006-2008 and because he was not supervised by the x properly, he did not wear his retainers. Now there is a need to replace 2 retainers, and possibly put bottom braces on again, another $1500 for me to pay.

I do not have the money to have him visit me which especially hurts and I have no car, no luxuries, and live as frugally as possible.

I simply do not have the money for this. I work a modest job, the best I could find in this economy, but had 3 serious and non-optional surgeries last year and because they do not do surgery if you do not pay in advance, there is $10,000 on my credit cards.

Oh and trouble at work & threats of lay-off at work - all has resulted in the perfect storm to take me down.
Thank you for listening, thank you especially for your prayers. I just do not have the money to finace my x. While he may afford to spend money like water, I do not have the income. Distressed.

Need him to be stopped from this battering through what has become whatever means possible.

yah, I am sorry I, I am not a cry baby and never ask for help but need agreement x's harassment will stop or my difficulties will be solved in some manner that I have not seen.

Thanks for sharing what your specific troubles are. You are not alone with this, Jesus will and can help you!

First, I'm so glad to hear that you are free from the bondage of being in an unhappy marriage. Praise God! But, you're still tied to this person through the children, and you will be for a long time, we know that.

The advise I'm going to give you might be difficult to hear and put into action.

The solution to your problems is very simple, but very difficult.

You need to pray for him. Yes, I believe he is persecuting you through the legal means that is available to him, the courts. Yes, it's a test and a trial for you personally.

But, you can use this time of testing to strengthen yourself and your relationship with God. Remember Job? Remember the faithful servants in the Bible? God didn't always deliver them from their tormentors, but He did help them to endure, and they were blessed for their endurance and faithfulness.

Prayer is the key for you in this situation. Pray for your ex-husband, that God will work in his life to turn this situation around. Pray that God will forgive him for his errors and that he will see what he's doing wrong. Pray for his soul.

Pray for yourself that you can completely and totally forgive your ex for what he has done in the past, and still continues to do now. Pray that you can not only forgive him, but feel compassion and love for him.

Don't just do it once, do it every single day. It might not come from the heart in the beginning, but ask God to help you with this, and keep doing it and eventually you will feel it in your heart.

I have found that when I'm under persecution from another person, and I fight back, it does not help the situation. It causes me to feel anger, resentment, and it is not what God wants us to do. God wants us to forgive and pray for those who hurt us. Even Jesus, while dying on the cross prayed for the soldiers that killed Him.

We are to do the same. I know that it's not easy! But, trust me, it works. One of 2 things will happen. Either your prayers will be answered and his heart will be softened, or you will learn how to love those who persecute you and become closer to God. Either way, you win!

Merry Oaks, this is going to sound strange, and may seem difficult, but you should pray for X. Pray every night. We are taught to bless those that persecute us.

God bless you too, and you're going to be ok. You'll get through this with His help, I just know you will. :)
