Solarsoft is claiming all these solar flares are coming from 1546, [link to www.lmsal.com]

But if you look closely, you'll see that Solarham is right, they do not originate from 1546 but from an unnumbered region just north and east of 1546 rotating in, and it's getting busy for sure.

Could someone refresh my memory, didn't Nin say as the sun's polar shift approaches, we would see more more solar activity originating from North of it's equator ??

BREAKING NEWS:
==============
NASA DON'T GET WHY SUN GOING MONO-POLAR
=======================================

[link to www.nasa.gov]

Approximately every 11 years the magnetic field on the sun reverses completely – the north magnetic pole switches to south, and vice versa. It’s as if a bar magnet slowly lost its magnetic field and regained it in the opposite direction, so the positive side becomes the negative side. But, of course, the sun is not a simple bar magnet and the causes of the switch, not to mention the complex tracery of moving magnetic fields throughout the eleven-year cycle, are not easy to map out.

While the cycle unfolds with seeming regularity every 11 years, in two upcoming papers scientists highlight just how asymmetrical this process actually is. Currently the polarity at the north of the sun appears to have decreased close to zero – that is, it seems to be well into its polar flip from magnetic north to south -- but the polarity at the south is only just beginning to decrease.

"Right now, there's an imbalance between the north and the south poles," says Jonathan Cirtain, a space scientist at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., who is also NASA's project scientist for a Japanese solar mission called Hinode. "The north is already in transition, well ahead of the south pole, and we don't understand why."

[link to www.nasa.gov]
 Quoting: Poline 1349287

from the same article
"both papers agree that the switch is imminent at the north pole, well in advance of general predictions that solar maximum for this cycle will occur in 2013"

" The microwave radiation technique described in the second paper makes use of the discovery in 2003 that as the sun moves toward solar maximum, giant eruptions on the sun, called prominence eruptions – which during solar minimum, are concentrated at lower solar latitudes -- begin to travel toward higher latitudes near the poles. In addition, the polar brightness in the microwave wavelengths declines to very low values"

"These prominence eruptions are associated with increased solar activity such as coronal mass ejections or CMEs, so CMEs originating from higher latitudes also point to an oncoming solar maximum,"

" "When we start to see prominence eruptions above 60 degrees latitude on the sun, then we know that we are reaching solar maximum."

VERY interesting report
thanks for sharing this :)

Edit Note:
we just saw a northern prominence lift off earlier today
 Quoting: NiNzrez

Tom, why have all of these mega-CMEs been deflected south of the ecliptic? Is this unusual or has this type of thing been seen before? We should have proton storms and a dozen CMEs coming our way; instead every eruption from 1515 was re-directed away from the ecliptic. I'm at a loss of an explanation here and no one seems to have an answer except for Niburu Nonsense. I'm seeking some coherent theories for this......

:pyramidmag-field:
 Quoting: Hugh M Eye

check out a closeup in Helioviewer of the 211 wavelength from a day or so ago

it seemed sort of surreal to me

maybe I'll post a link

also the 304 showed the ejecta directed N and S

very strange
 Quoting: RTS REDUX

With Solar Cycle 24, the Sunspot Regions in the Southern Hemisphere are oriented - to +, and CMEs usually arive from these regions + to - making a poor connection with our geomagnetic field. We have a gread deal more to be concerned from ARs in the Northern Hemisphere. As the cycle progresses we can expect to see these regions begin to change their polarity structure starting with regions off the SE limb ( usually). This is but one of the many ways we get a heads up on the approach of solar max. I believe Dr Leif Svalgaard wrote the original documentation I read on this some years ago. You may want to do a search for his observations, theorys and findings. Dr Svalgaard is one Astrophysicst that I have a great amount of respect for. Solar cycle 25 will begin with a reversed polarity Sunspot Region after a dormant spotless Sun that will be in the Northern Hemisphere. Solar Cycle 25 Sunspot Regions will be reversed from 24s. -to + in the Northern Hemisphere and + to - in the Southern. amazing that the Sun reverses polarity every cycle, isn't it? what if it reversed our weakened one this time as well? Food for thought. I hope I made some sence, as I have been up way to long and need some rest befor this weekend!!! haha!
 Quoting: tomasgod1

Nin - Is this what you are looking for that Thomas wrote? I am a lurker and thought I would help out if possible instead of just hitting F5 key.
 Quoting: Anon Coward 19357950

...

The hinode website says that their observations were that the south pole was not moving while the north pole had almost completed its flip which "would suggest a transition from the typical bipolar configuration"

The timeline was a month as the north was already flipping, and that was a couple weeks ago. I haven't found anything on it since or really know what a quadripolar sun would actually do.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16439963

I cant help but interject here! This group from Japan pulls this crap repeatedly. The poles on the Sun flip every cycle! A new cycle begins with a reversed polarity sunspot. We had one a few months ago (way early
) NASA missed the fact, and projected a large geomagnetic storm from it but it did not happen because the CME hit + to - and did not make a good connection with our magetosphere. We did! Go back a few monthsandread ysef, as well as NiNs posts on the subject. The Northern latitude sunspots will reverse polarity and the southern latitude sunspots will as well after the polar reversal We are still a year away from solar max. Then we have several years of decline then the poles will be reversed after a long period of a spotless sun we will find a reversed polarity sunspot in the northern hemisphere of the Sun and cycle 25 will be undrway. OK! GEESH!
 Quoting: tomasgod1

Again, just to be very clear! The Sun reverses it magnetic poles every 11 years. The Earth does not, as often, yet it does also!. One day we will, as Earth has done it many, many, many times. We know this because the sea floor is striated with strips of magnetically aligned seabed N-S then S-N then N-S over and over as the sea floor expands from underneath the continent in the pacific ocean; as it cools it is permanently magnetized according to the polar alignment of the Earth. It changes every several hundered to million years, over, and over again. But the Sun does it every 11 yeqrs! ON Q! Maybe this is our year to flip with the Sun? think about it..haha!

TS ~

Here is what I found from Nin in the posts re the sun pole shift.
 Quoting: Tiny Trink

Thank you Tiny !!! :) I know this is related, but I was sure it was more specific to the activity in the North increasing ....

But then again, I've been known to confuse ideas with reality lol.

Thanks for looking that up hf

TS ~ I think I found what you were talking about, Nin references Tomas discussing the shift on page 902.

I copied into this post for you, see if this is what you are looking for.

BREAKING NEWS:
==============
NASA DON'T GET WHY SUN GOING MONO-POLAR
=======================================

"The north is already in transition, well ahead of the south pole, and we don't understand why."

from the same article

Edit Note:
we just saw a northern prominence lift off earlier today

check out a closeup in Helioviewer of the 211 wavelength from a day or so ago

it seemed sort of surreal to me

maybe I'll post a link

also the 304 showed the ejecta directed N and S

very strange

I hope I made some sence, as I have been up way to long and need some rest befor this weekend!!! haha!

Nin - Is this what you are looking for that Thomas wrote? I am a lurker and thought I would help out if possible instead of just hitting F5 key.

South polar field updated today, finally. -13 on July 21st. It's gone down 1 every 10 days for the last 4 cycles listed. A zero date at this pace brings us to December 8th for the field flip.
