Seems as if they issued this warning "continuation" about an hour prior to the density spike on ACE, and the electron flux is on a steady decline .... hmm ???

With as quiet as it is, one would never know the sun does have 5 active regions, a huge coronal hole and a large filament (though this may have collapsed and melted away) on the earth facing side. Old 1530-1532 is coming back around and not sure but it may have fizzled out also.

[link to www.solarham.net]
Not totally flat lined, a small pulse is barely detected. I wonder if the threat of using the defibrillator shock paddles on it would do any good?

Yeah, bored and coming down with a cold/allergies so was looking for SOMETHING to kick off.

Is "World in Collision" a technical book? I read about 50+ books a year (okay, a lot more than that if my Kindle account is to be believed and 89% are PAW's) but am not fond of text books.

Researchers gear up for NASA radiation belt space mission
The University of Colorado Boulder will play a key role in a NASA mission launching this week to study how space weather affects Earth's two giant radiation belts known to be hazardous to satellites, astronauts and electronics systems on Earth.
The Radiation Belt Storm Probes, or RBSP, mission will study the invisible, doughnut-shaped regions above Earth known as the Van Allen radiation belts that are filled with high- energy electrons and protons, some of which are darting at roughly the speed of light. CU-Boulder, which will receive more than $18 million from NASA over the mission lifetime, designed and built an instrument to capture and measure the high-energy, or "killer," electrons and an intricate electronics package for another instrument suite to measure changes in the electric and magnetic fields in the belts.

Was your hubby somehow involved in these projects to study the V.A Belts!?
 Quoting: Spittin'Cesium

Hi Spittin...the two satellites were built at JHAPL. Hubby was part of the team that built the satellites. Then in April some of the team, including him, were sent down to the cape to complete the process. The launch is Friday, and he comes home next Wednesday. He was also part of the team that built the Stereo satellites. He is keeping his fingers crossed that he will be assigned to the new Solar Probe team that will be building the new satellites that will be sent to study the sun. Anyway, he has been in Florida since April, with only a couple weekend visits at home. So we both are excited that he will be back home next week. (I'm sure that is much more information than you wanted) lol Bet you'll never ask me another question. :-)
I stayed up all night to see where the sun went. Then it dawned on me.

the one thing i see is this strange image is coming out of black....and it seems like several second of black.

now i have worked in control rooms before...this looks like a complete FU from in there.
this either if done for real and on purpose or a royal FU...this would be a job ender! no editors and producers just don't do that. now i personally have had those thoughts but....i still like to get payed.

now because it is coming out of a long section of black and not a cross-fade...it think this whole thing is faked.
plus i stepped through the transition to devilman...it was not just a cut or wipe...but a advanced 3d transition...things that are done in post editing not live switching.
but funny none the less!

INFO FROM SIDC - RWC BELGIUM 22 Aug 2012, 0947UT

The CACTus software package generated a halo CME alert on 2012 Aug 22 0566 UTC. After visual inspection of STEREO data, this event with a reported lift-off of Aug 20 21:28 UTC is confirmed but is determined back-sided, i.e. non-Earth directed and will thus have no geomagnetic effect. Small scale flare flickering in the active regions near the solar East limb suggest that flaring activity might be rising in the next few days, hence the SIDC ALL QUIET ALERT is halted. For the next 24 hours however we expect the chance for C-flaring activity however to be less than 50%. Also geomagnetic activity is expected to remain quiet.

Now on geomagnetic disturbance level will we receive such a dramatic spike from particle collisions or waves incoming?

Hey NERD, I think I've asked you questions on 3 different threads within like 5 minutes of each other and just realized it, too funny! I'm tired and need restslaphim

lol, all good, we visit most of the same threads anyway...always feels funny/weird when i read through a thread outside of our 'three faves' and see one of my family there...exciting...lol. and when someone attacks any of you guys, i feel like tearing heads off...

Solar Electromagnetic Flux Dynamics
Aug 23, 2012

Heliophysicists acknowledge the role of plasma in solar eruptions but miss important aspects of its behavior.

In Bengal to move at all
Is seldom, if ever, done,
But mad dogs and Englishmen
Go out in the midday sun.
— Noël Coward

According to a recent press release, the Sun’s energetic eruptions, known as solar flares, derive their energy from magnetized loops of plasma. The magnetic fields in the “magnetic flux ropes” experience “reconnection events” in which the field lines break and then reconnect, causing explosions of “magnetic energy.”

No one knows what “magnetic reconnection” is; it is a phrase used to describe what is observed but it lacks content. It is similar to the phrase “gravitational attraction”: an unknown phenomenon causes matter to exert attraction over distance but the nature of that attractive force remains obscure. There is another problem with the idea of magnetic field lines breaking. Magnetic field lines are not “things,” they are schematic representations used to plot magnetic fields. They are no more real in space than lines of latitude or longitude are on the surface of the Earth.............

Sorry about all that, but as you can see, I am just a tiny bit excited. applause2

Hello there Shenu : )

That is so awesome, after you guys spend some quality time together can we get a list of questions together for him. Just joking, but that could be one of the first set of honest answers we'd been given!LOL

Lol... Shadasonic, he is one of the lucky people that truly loves his job and looks forward to going to work every single day. Not too many people are blessed with that. And I am blessed with having him as my husband. He is a very loving person. Ok enough of all that or I'll get my butt kicked outta here for being off topic. hiding lol
I stayed up all night to see where the sun went. Then it dawned on me.

i just found this....

and he was in Princeton in the 50's.
that is were Einstein spent his last days.

funny just after my collage days. i worked at the McCater theatre in Princeton. before he died Einstein used to go and sit back stage during the shows...he like to watch the back stage view best.

he would write comments on the wall back stage. i was very sad when they renovated the theater and replaced that wall.

I finally got the chance to watch this video in it's entirety. Thank you so much for this.

I'm a great believer that the ancients had a tremendous amount of knowledge that we have not even considered, and have dismissed as pure fantasy. I have always believed that ancient man had all the capacities to be as intelligent and intellectual as modern man, and only lacked the proper tools to analyze what they experienced and saw.

What devotion it must have taken to spend a lifetime studying the the stars, charting them and their movements in a time without technology. It boggles the mind, and in fact the ancients required more of an intellectual capacity to accomplish what we now take for granted in allowing technology to interpret and decipher for us.

I would say that I was amazed that I have never heard of this gentleman before, but it seems he was born into the era of biblical myths, and was I am sure, socially-ostracized for attempting to explain the story of myth with science.
I'm very much looking forward to reading his books after seeing this video.

Thank you so much Psy ....

Good morning everyone ... hf
