SOLAR WATCH * 248 M & 18 X FLARES starting 3-7-2011 (Updated Daily) | |

Check out SDO movie, red, 1024 7:14 UTC. [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] There is some type of huge ejecta in the north west quadrant, shooting out east and west that resemble plumes of smoke radiating away from the region (possibly SR1566). I'm not sure of the origins as there are no shots for the hour prior. I believe it was picked up on the GOES Xray flux chart, but it seems to have produced more plasma than reflected on GOES. :ejecta1: Shortly after at 10:15, a huge prominence in the SSE region also ejected which resulted in what looks like a small B flare, and in the next frame another right at the south pole, again both seemed more significant of an eruption than indicated on GOES. :ejecta2: As always, I prefer the movie  great catch! The size boggles the mind... Oh wow!? And I thought this was amazing [link to halpha.nso.edu] This Filament Eruption is bonkers. Wth? If you think that was good watch this,look at the ar on the right as it rotates over the limb it interacts with two other reigions producing an X45 flare. [link to helioviewer.org] Its an older vid but its still amazing. Quite a jumbled mess of Plasmatic Fields present in that video that ended up producing the X Class you mention. Looks like the dip over the equator by a few of the lines of force cause quite a reaction. Recently we have been seeing quite a lot of cross Hemisphere Fields joining different Regions but they have all looked fairly stable(ish) and persist for upto a Week at times,Example - [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] That's a present image,the arcing loops appear to be well over the Eastern Horizon. Definitely a few times where we have Waves of Mutilation [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080] though the SW Velocity is not that high and the IMF Polarity fairly normal,there is a fair few times where you can see extra charging within the Magnetosphere just around Earth in the Ionospheric area. Does'nt appear to take to much anymore,it looks to me like the extra charge is coming in from the Tail end of the Magnetosphere(Magnetotail). It's not alot but it's something.
