Quoting: TheSeekerWell there was an M2.5 solar flare, thats medium, no real big deal. There was a SEP event, that is a proton storm "solar Radiation Storm", level 1, almost reached level 2. These are unusal but in the scope of things was nothing to worry about. There was a Type II radio sweep, not too unusual. There was also a type IV, and 10cm radio sweep, unusual. The really unusual thing was the massive CME that was discharged with this event. It looks as though the majority of this CME will miss the Earth. Had this been a direct hit I think we would quite possibly be looking at a 100 year type geomagnetic storm. As to what effects we will see from this? It will depend on the amount of material that was ejected toward the Earth and the charge of the plasma.
