The trailing region of 1611 (?) seems to have a reverse polarity. I'm curious to see how NOAA numbers and classifies these spots.

Protons are excited

WTF?!? Where did THAT come from? A B-flare??? This is quite amazing to me. Must be a super-charged filament or a huge far-side flare. This bears watching closely.

NOAA is naming the upper region 1611 and the lower one 1612.

Well we've got proton surge, are we getting magnetic wraparound from the large backside event or GRB?

It's gotta be from the Amazing Two-headed CME on the far sides. Looks huge and energetic. Good thing Earth is immune from Cycle 24 mayhem (GLP Effect natch).

The GOES X-ray levels peaked at a C 1.0, but someone forgot to re-set the monitor, LOL. Something's been cooking for the last hour or more.

On the Stereo EUV Heliograph we can see another hot spot near the SE limb (at about 115 degrees east) which will be visible Earth-side in 2-3 days. Also notice how the northern regions are very close to the equator (15 degrees or less) and the southern regions are closer to the 30 degree hash-mark. The one exception is the AR that exploded today (I'm fairly certain). As we see more southern spots form close to the equator, we'll see a crescendo of solar activity. Hopefully.
