They replaced GOES 15 with 14 for a while and it appears that they have unboxed 15 again for the SXI images.

I cannot remember why 14 temporarily replaced 15 though.

Goes is getting a GRB detection simulator by early 2013,pretty cool if we haven't been hit by one yet.lol

Watch the TEC count as our mag gets incoming energy,the ionosphere is going to have electrons displaced as this proton storm continues its leveling out energy and 'knocking' electrons around,we need energy on a ,mild, constant level for a while. Look at our magnetosphere acting crazy from some tailend waves, nuts! Unless our magnetic footpoint has a much bigger hold than we know of

A large CME right now would give us big problems

I've seen it around 4-5 times now,usually after the Closed Field has been flying wide like it has - I would'nt quite say it is right but it is what it is.

Thank you for alerting me to that Shads,I had just popped over to YT for a little while.

I'm not sure what is causing this as the Polarities appear fine on the ACE data.

If you look on the individual updates on that site you can see the Cap Fields have been almost pushed out of the picture for the last Hour+ and what may be happening is the IMF or Closed Field has configurated in such a way as to bunch up/trap that Field.

We have to remember that these are only Simulations based on previously observed data sets and variables,these variables are,well,variable so what we see may be due to a changing environment - Or more simply,because we have incoming and we know the medium in front of the leading edge of CMEs' etc. can itself become squished(for want of a better term).

Did you mean the Fermi All Sky Gamma Map image that shows our Sun as the brightest Gamma source for 20 straight Hours against the entire visible Sky...if so,yes - Quite awesome is'nt it!

I think it is still 1608 in the South-East [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] or possibly over the North-East Limb.

Channel eruption to the Right of 1608,can be seen at the very end of this H alpha in the South-East [link to halpha.nso.edu] and here in the UV [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] .

Could be a associated ejection with it considering it is a channel eruption.

Stereo Ahead is back online/updating [link to stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov] until the next CME pops off - so that you do not beat them to the post by forecasting it's direction or whatever their useless excuse is for the continual shutting off of the Coronagraphs each time(almost)we have a CME.
